Tinted moisturiser. So is that it now, are we expected to wear makeup as well? I had hoped there would be less pressure on women to wear makeup in 2021. But no, the opposite. Can we collectively tell cosmetics companies to f*@& off.
From zoom call/meetings, I've seen less people wearing makeup and just being more comfortable in what they wear. It's been refreshing and people have felt more human and far less corporate. Having said that.... quite a few seem to have invested in those lamp things that are supposed to make the image more flattering which I find all a bit weird when there is a white halo to the pupil of the eye.
I find the use of ring lights weird, the positive is that they’re easy to use. But absolutely no pro photographer or videographer would recommend them or describe them as ‘flattering’. They became popular for you tubers as a simple way to get ‘even’ lighting, then transitioned to the public. but as per the other point, tons of staff are uncomfortable being on camera, but I love working in sweat pants or shorts, I can go a month without wearing proper trousers, and I’ve just sent a load to the charity shop.
I can’t be arsed with make up unless it’s a special occasion. I just don’t know how anyone can be bothered, not just to put it on but to take it off too.
On the flip side lots of women (and men) saying in the last few weeks how nice it’s made them feel getting ‘dressed up’ again to go to a face to face meeting or go out for dinner. I spend my life on Zoom and can’t echo the feeling that it’s more human/less corporate. Not phrases used in my circle and just a desperation to get back out in the field and seeing people
I've just seen insight for a client where 93% of people (audience of more than 3,000) want to work away from the office at least 50% of the working week.
Yep. That’s consistent with most people and companies I speak to. Less people want to be at home full time but want the flexibility to be there more often. Makes complete sense
Just looking at it now. 44% want to work from home 100% of the time. 30% on average 4 days a week. Less sentiment in Singapore, UAE and Germany. Surprised the US figures were as high as they were, though UK is slightly higher (very London centric audience). Certainly going to be a seismic shift, well, if companies allow it of course.
My main worry with home working is being able to switch off at the end of the day. I think workplaces will demand more and it won't end up being the positive it should be.
I managed to bag working at home two days a week. Perfect. And I don't have a webcam so nobody knows what I'm (not) wearing.
It's beneficial to companies also, it's important to remember. Less costs and also opens up their candidate pool to a much higher number of people. Similarly it opens up the number of jobs people can apply to if there's no commute time.
There's nowt wrong with a scrub with lemon Vim and a good dab of Brylcreem, all the makeup and fragrance done in one go! You young 'uns know nowt!
Agree. For years in corporate environments I've heard multiple excuses of how people couldn't be trusted to work from home. All the evidence I've seen has pointed to increased measures of output (efficiency, productivity and utilisation). At least covid has completely debunked that myth.
It really does depend on what sector those 3,000 people work in though. Even in the replies to this thread, you can tell which businesses will benefit from more home working vs. which ones really on proper human interaction. You might save money on expenses and costs, you might get more ‘pure’ hours out of people, but you’re not necessarily getting the best out of individuals. That will change by sector. We can’t underestimate the important of meeting in person, having meetings in person, etc. Just being able to switch off and feel like your home isn’t your work. Not everyone can do that as easily as some people on the BBS can.
Did it for years because my office was 250 miles away. Really struggled to start with the work/life balance but with a bit of trial and error got there and it worked fine. Used to go to Office once a fortnight for meetings and found I enjoyed going in despite the travel.
