    Worst thing for Ward personally will be if Sheff U go up

    I doubt he'll get a look in in the Prem - probably left in the reserves or loaned out and then the prachute payents can fund another Beattie for a couple of seasons.

    £400k was the total

    It was &pound;300k up front, with another &pound;100k as add ons, from what I was told. Chesterfield were apparently very very happy with our deal.</p>

    However, Barnsley cannot afford to throw wages at an as yet unproven at Championship level striker. For that I appalud the clubs stance.</p>

    Just wish we'd find such a player. Gary O'Connor at Birmingham for example.
