    Bloody Hell, this again!!

Yes, evolution is true. It's a scientific theory, like the theory of gravity. (as for these religious schools wanting to opt out because they aren't given a choice whether or not to teach evolution - you don't get a choice in maths either. no matter how much you want it to, 2 + 2 does not equal 45.7689, just because you want it to)

As for God - i can categorically state that there is no god. can i disprove it? no, but then i can't disprove Bertrand Russel's teapot or the existence of the flying spaghetti monster (all praise his noodly appendages - Ramen)

the bible contradicts itself in so many places i'm surprised any vicar / priest / whatever can keep a straight face.

How can you say that if you cannot prove it?

I do not have to prove there is a God, as i have never made a statement like yours, I believe there is a God, but believing and making statements such as yours are different.

It's a faith thing, mate. You either have it, or you don't.

I just don't get the mocking of people with faith. I mean, they don't go round mocking non-believers do they?

Exactly. They're all right as well.

Just as it's right/wrong that Elvis once crash landed a UFO onto the Loch Ness monster.

    That's why I'm a Christian.

No one can prove there isn't. I'm with Blaise on this one.

If I said I believed in the man on the moon I rightly be the subject of derision

and yet there is as much evidence for the man in the moon as there is for a God of any denomination.

Neither exist of course yet I am happy to enjoy the miraculous improbability of my existence while it lasts, safe in the knowledge there is nothing else after it.

BTW in response to the original post, evolution is an almost given though Darwin did not fully understand its complexity and neither has anyone else since though like with most scientific endeavor we know more as time goes on while raising more questions.

Darwin managed to start to break the stranglehold of middle ages theological nonsense, though its clear this still clings to the fears of those who refuse to come to terms with stark, mindblowing, amazing, reality.
