We’re hardly the first club to use the league cup for its own ends. Whether that’s blooding players or having a good look a fringe lads & making them feel valued. We do look a bit heavy on strikers, but it’s better than being light. YT cleared up the offside goal which would have changed the game. Still should’ve had enough to win. But it’s only the Mickey Mouse trophy. Best not do that in FA cup though..
Premier league season but in FA cup 3rd round. 1-0, Darren Barnard low free kick second half. Notable for the mass dugout punch up with Andy Todd & Ashley Ward getting involved. Oh and a certain Eric Winstanley wasn’t shy either.
Yes, that was the game I thought of, when Barnard took the free kick before Bolton set themselves, though I'm not sure how many times we've played them since.
Exactly. And in 1981/82, a favourite season for a lot of us, we lost 2-0 at home in the FAC to lower league Blackpool the week before we held the English champions at Anfield to a draw
Too true. We luckily scraped through against Rochdale, only to be knocked out by Gillingham in the next round.
Thing is for 12 of those seasons Bolton were in the premier league so its a pretty pointless stat. It would make sense to say its the first time they have beaten higher level teams since they dropped out the Premier League in 2012.
Yeh but if you draw man utd away even nxt round, united play ther second team which every player would get on our side, it would still get nearly a full house, we'd easily av a half million payday.
