£8.5 million wage bill? I will believe it when I see the accounts.

If the Club want to save money they can do it by cutting Rowings wages for starters and I'm sure there are other areas where cuts can be made.

The Club dropped a big bollock with the catigory system and they know it. Using unattractive fixtures such as Watford as an example that dropping prices doesn't increase attendances is flawed logic.

Season ticket prices should have gone up to £16 a game why should the pay on the day fan have been hit with such massive increases?

All the average pay on the day fan wants is consistancy in pricing.

£25 with no strings attached, ie 1912 Club, would have seen me at the match. As it stands 3 adults and a juvenile from my family will not be at the match.

We are staying away because of the catigory sysytem and the £30 charge. Life long are fans staying away not plastic fans you ******.

Get your head out of the sand numb-nuts and wake up. We've been discussing this subject for a long time and I keep stating that there are a lot if fans that use any excuse not to go - nowhere have I said all fans as I know there are genuine stay away fans. The plastic fans I refer to are the army of fans who only want to come to Oakwell when it's a big game. If that opinion bothers you so much it's you with the problem because however sensitive you are to the facts they are still the facts. Get a fecking grip and read the post in context before you start taking it as a personal insult.

If we have to find £4m each year does that mean that the wage bill is a constant £8.5m each year?

Surely the wage bill will have been reduced this year and so will the deficit.

agree thats the long term answer but we've got to try and get some of the fans back, plus stop others like manilito from being disillusioned with the club.once they leave and find other things to do it'll be very hard to get them back.

Yaaay, yet another thread that misses out facts

If indeed you spoke to the DON, I am sure he would have told you we lost 1500 ST holders in the summer (7,474 currently), and that the pay-on-the-day attendee figure has shed about 200 fans. So thats 1700 ish that are staying away. Now there could be huggins of reasons, but to blame JUST the CAT A prices is rather blinkered if not stupid.
We have had 6 games, and today, the 7th, is only the 2nd £30 match. And they have introduced an offer which if you are a 1912 member, keep your stub and blah blah, it will cost an adult fan something like £43 for these 2 home games. THATS £21.50 EACH!
    So they are listening.
You know me, I cant stand what they are doing. But while it affects my club, it doesnt directly affect me. Im a ST holder and until my employment gets cut from under me, I will forever be a ST holder. £14 a game beats 16, 23 or 30 any day of the week and even if I couldnt make 10 games it would still be worth it IMO. And if I did lose my job I would put 7 quid a week away (which is what I do now anyway just in case) and over the year it pays for my ST in June..
Sick of this debate. And it sickens me to read people who call themselves fans saying they have the money and want to attend every game but ARE NOT on general principle due to the CAT A prices.
    Join the 1912 club!
Or, if you want to attend at least 70% of games, buy a frickin' season ticket!
Or do nowt, and watch your club die.

This issue isn't about plastic fans it's about the 1500-2000 who have been driven away by the catigory system.
Season ticket revenue should pay for the running of the Club, with pay on the day finances as a bonus. Start moaning about attendances when season ticket holders are paying a fair rate. Which to cover £8.5M is about £1062 based on 8000 ie £46 a match.

is that the TOTAL wages , Staff and all, or just players

I hope its the Total bill. Hopefully the break even rules will make the players wages become more negotiable. Thus bringing the outgoings down. But I honestly think the clubs with serious millionaires will get around that somehow.

Didn't the Club say we were already operating under the new break even rules last season?

We sold Shackell for £1M allegedly and bought in a bunch of players from the lower leagues. That must have cut our wage bill.

If we have 7474 season ticket holders then we must have lost more than 200 pay on the day fans.

Err Gordon Owen, I wasn't animated in the slightest,

It was a reasonable post So why the 'chill out' message? I think some people on here who defend the club chose whatever need to chill out and listen to what stayaways are saying.

Re: Next Season 1 guarantee there won't be 16 x cat a home games - they realise they

They more than likely would make a loss, as the numbers don't stack up. Others in this thread have quite properly pointed that out.

However, you make a fair point. It isn't necessarily how many supporters they get at the discounted match. The marketing people have to consider whether or not those individuals are likely to return in the future.

In order to achieve that, they would have to take a financial hit in the short term - and it appears to be one they can't afford to take.

i don't think we can afford not to, to be honest.as the crowd numbers today and by posts on here and mutterings in pub and ground suggest its only going to get worse.
as for figures regarding a loss, yes its a loss of revenue on the day but i was trying to get over that over the season the extra few fans we attracted would counteract that. it just seems that club alienating fans who are not as committed to club as the 6/8,000 diehards is a bit of an own goal.imo

Let us see if the club has got its head screwed on when we play Weeds? £36 x 7,000 equals........
£36 at Bellend Rd an absolute disgrace!
