Traffic cops are a waste of space

And the majority are arrogant tossers.

If they were out there catching the real criminals, those out there raping people's grans and robbing them instead of worrying about 5mm on a reg plate the world would be a better place.

Police officers have absolutely zero discretion about what they do now, absolutely every last bit of their day is regulated and driven by government directives and targets, most of which are complete and utter pointless B*ll*cks and are only serving to alienate the public from the police as the police are now forced to try and prosecute petty things that they wouldn't have even bothered with before.

Don't blame the police, blame the inept and incompetent headline-seekers who "run" the police force from Whitehall.

A Labour government means more state interference and micro-management of everything (ask your local teacher, copper, or doctor) and hundreds of pointless targets that actually hinder people from delivering the services they're supposed to.

Next time you're burgled and there aren't any coppers to attend bear it in mind when the next election comes.

A much better idea for the police would be to make senior officers directly elected by their communities every 3-4 years so that the police are driven by a need to keep the public happy (i.e. respond to calls, be out on the streets) and not by trying to keep incompetents like Jacqui Smith looking good by fiddling statistics.

My brother got pulled over for a mucky plate. He pointed out that he does a lot of miles (his work) and with the wet weather it is difficult to keep the car clean. He thanked them for pointing it out and promised to use the next carwash he came too. They wouldn't have it and fined him. He had genuinely not even noticed that the plate was particularly dirty and when he looked it was still readable. W@nkers.
