I’m confident if we keep starting him he will score 15+ goals…his all round play has improved massively…well done max!!!
He looks a different player lately. I assume Stead has worked some magic on him. He knows where to make sure he is for a simple finish.
Watters had a great conversion rate in his first season, something like 4 goals from 16 shots. The issue was he only had 16 shots in 23 games. If he gets decent service then I agree he could score 15+. Cole and Big Vic prove you don't need to be the best forward to score goals in this league, it's about finishing chances. If we get two forwards alongside Jalo returning from injury we won't have done badly.
For me should have got MOM instead of Phillips . He ran himself ragged - most forwards are confidence players and this is probably his first proper run in the team that I can remember and he’s hitting the net - there’s bits of his game that can be improved but at this level and at a young age, it’s to be expected .
Shame we didn't have a full ponty tonight to see him score the winner against the blades. It must have been a great feeling to turn to the fans and punch the air after his goal. Well done super maxy watters.
I think someone might’ve mentioned it on another thread , but was it the boo boys who stayed away this evening? That gritty , irksome display when up against it is the sort of display I love seeing and what got me to keep going after my first game in 1984 Its as if some sections of fans have developed a sense of entitlement at this level -which when other clubs have it we pick them up on it. MD had a far better squad and managed to get away boo free ! Let’s be right , the 3-0 loss at home to Wycombe was woeful
Speaking of which, how good was the applause for Yoganathan when he was subbed and walked around the perimeter? That won’t have done his confidence any harm.
