Is it though? Or is it a problem with tying **** players to long contracts? We had months to see how lazy Watters was. Months. He was utter gash last season and despite 1 second every few games where he managed to kick the ball in the right direction and it went in he did absolutely **** all. And yet someone at the club saw him and thought oh aye, hes worth 4 years.

I thought Cosgrove did well yesterday. Won the ball plenty in the air and linked up okay-ish. That miss was an absolute sitter though.

Watters, admittedly, got zero service as the whole team was awful in that first half but was also basically non existence. I said at the start of the season if we give him service in the box, he would score goals but that won’t ever happen if he doesn’t offer more in every other aspect of the game.

Our attacking lineup next season could be interesting if there’s no Cole or McAtee in it…

I don't know how to find my old posts but a couple of weeks ago I posted some stats I had found. Watters had then the joint second highest number of assists. When you factor in assists per minutes on the pitch he has 50% more than Kane. Whilst i agree there is some room for improvement with him, I also think it's weird to find a striker a scapegoat for that first half debacle when we hardly made a forward pass in the opponents half and I can't recall anyone making a single pass to him. If we are going to play hoof ball which seemed the tactic, Cosgrove is more suited to it.

Watters offered absolutely nothing, even failed to track players runs when we were under pressure. Cosgrove although his finishing was poor caused problems, worried defenders and actually had really good chances to score. Watters closing down was half hearted at best, he added nothing. Yes he got no service but what service does he want as he cant hold the ball up when he gets it. First half was so poor, only once with the ball in their 18 yard box. Collins team selection and set up way off the mark. Obvious substitutions could have been made after twenty minutes even just removing Watters and O keffe at that time would have made a difference

They’re both woeful. I can’t imagine there’s a worse second string attack in League 1. It’s like comparing Iseka vs Oulare for me.
