True but you say west brom are 23rd in a table.of passes completed. Were 23rd in a more important table we would be 24th had derby not been docked points. Plus we actually try to pass the ball and play out from the back but can't do it.
Tbh, I've enjoyed watching my sons footy team mire. At times they play wonderful passing football, something I've missed at Barnsley.
I don't think we're that bad at that to be honest. What we're really poor at is the set up when we lose the ball in midfield and its one simple ball over the top or down the channel. Though last night we conceded two goals from basic crosses and completely left players to do what they wanted.
I fully agree and to be fair to Ismael the football I disliked at the end of last season wasn't entirely our own doing but generated by the response of opponents who'd got wise to our tactics. Earler on the way we destroyed Norwich in the Cup was a great watch. I've not seen West Brom play this season but it sounds like the fans don't like it. They have a different set of expectations to us though. They expect to be in the top two or three so being there now isn't going to win them over if they're seeing ugly football as part of the package. That was always going to be Val's problem as soon as he got a biggish job. The fans will be far less tolerant. He needs to adapt his tactics to really make it to the top.
I think if WBA get promoted the fans won't give a monkeys on what style they play. I certainly miss that winning feeling.
Never understand why we can't all admit we see games in a different way. For me Val's style was a very poor watch. It's not the kind of football that got me hooked on the Reds. Does Val actually have a Plan B? None of which should be taken as an endorsement for our current coach.
People are obviously allowed to hold different opinions. But that means that those views are also allowed to be challenged by others. I, for one, enjoyed Val's successful approach and believe he brought pride back to the club in our best season since 2000.
Can't argue with the success or infusion of pride Biglil. We could do with four or five Ismael style wins right now to dig us out of the hole this chump has got us in. It also seems the board are happy to stand by and marvel at how deep the hole is!
Lol, the hole digging is a sore point. The water pipe feeding the house has sprung a leak the last few days so I've spent the morning digging a fecking huge hole to reach it. Just call me Markus!
Tbh a lot of their criticism is the same as he received here such as treating the ball like a hot potato, by passing midfield, kicking it into touch etc etc.
But I think we're seeing now, why he had to play like he did. Plenty of posts last season saying how much quality was in our midfield, but this season we regularly see Styles, Palmer and Brittain knocked off the ball when trying to control a pass from a defender.
I think if WBA get promoted and he stays they will get absolutely murdered in the Prem playing his style.
That is a lack of effort and attitude on their part, at the end of the day you might not be as skilled, but last night too many players just gave up on 50/50 challenges that had nothing to do with size or pace or skill just mental fortitude “that it’s my ball.” There’s no way any of them Would have dared behave like that under Ismael, he would not stand for it. I think football wise he has severe limits but he squeezed every once of commitment out of them.
But the question remains, does he have to play like that with the WBA squad? Or is it just his style that he won't deviate from no matter what?
