Walsall deserved something, they had three good chances, but we'll take the three points. Cam and Jacob Brown both looked rusty, nowhere near the level they were at down at Southend. Cam especially below par today after that lay-off. Ben Williams had a tough first half against their winger, but saved our day with a superb goal line clearance late on.
Fair do's. It's just having seen most home and away matches this season courtesy of iFollow , I sometimes wonder if I have been watching the same game when people like YN post afterwards. I know most on here can be relied on to give a reasonable fair assessment but we do have a few doom and gloom merchants who love to come on and point out individual players failings and make out they were' cr*p', 'rubbish' 'sh*te' etc. There just seems to be a group who drag the mood of the board down even after a win. Sign of a good side to me who can play poorly and still get results. Clearly the 1st team we are stretched because of injuries and I suspect Cameron and Brownie needed at least one game to get up to speed as they are ring rusty after the bans and will be sorely needed for the run in. Sounded like Lindsay needs to rein it in a bit. We really don't want to lose any more players through bans and suspensions.
I wished i'd a tenner for everytime we actually deserved summat from a game and wound up with nothing, makes a nice change for our luck to change
Correct they missed 3 very good chances, one cleared off the line after Walton made a great 'half save' but the ball was still bouncing in. Other than Woodrow's strike I don't recall many (any?) clear chances for us. Thiam's shot was a half chance I'd say.
We were fortunate there.. but still won, Brown's been anonymous all game, but he's forgiven Thought Walton did well.. shame our scouts didn't pick up on Walsall''s Ishmael.. best ive seen for a while..
We weren't poor. We played with our left and right backs very advanced up the pitch and Walsall were organised in defence, just holding their position and nullifying the space. When we lost the ball, they broke with pace and beat us more often than not, especially Zeli Izmael, who I wish was playing for us. We missed having a defensive midfielder to tidy up. That was the pattern for the entire game. We were lucky to get away with it. I would have let them have the ball more - when they eventually lost the ball there would have been more space to exploit. But I felt we played into their hands.
Fluked a win there. One off the line that looked in. A goal chalked off that was perfectly fine. A shirt pull in the box that the ref missed. That's the worse I have seen us play this season and I went to Shrewsbury. We have to find our scoring touch quickly. It was a huge win.
