How do you come up with only 4. ? Should it have read 14.
    Cole 16
Any other strike partner 14 ish. Pretty even as Cole is a given to play.

    McAtee x6 in league alone
    Watters
    Dallas
Cosgrove around 14 between em could be improved mind.
Not including Jalo. Marsh efl trophy goals

Strikers have been overshadowed by midfielders since the days of Ronnie many yrs ago. Some seasons.

We are the 2nd top scores in the league. Last time I looked .
Kane has chipped in with 6. (Few penalties agreed)

Those who are paid to come up with it, those who get clicks and views from using it etc.

We're the second highest goal scorers in the league mate. We've scored more than Bolton, who you wanted us to compare our team against, and our strikers have scored a greater percentage of our goals than Bolton's have.

Not everything is rosey, anyone who has watched us this season can easily identify we're weak in defence. Our keeper has been much busier than you'd expect from a team in our position with our points haul. Although that in itself is a good example of how we can identify a good player in a pivotal position. But we needed to strengthen. And we have.

Offensively, 27 goals from our strikers (I forgot about the goal from Dallas) and 52 goals from 28 games isn't remotely close to "not good enough". It's a fantastic return.

I don't understand your argument at all.

as usual, all good points. totally agree re defence.

I am just concerned that we are over reliant on Cole.

I think Watters has performed very poorly and whilst I think Cosgrove will come good his return / contribution has not been so good.

I think we needed another striker. It sounds like Collins did. If Cole gets injured then I think the season will be really difficult.

Mcatee has been brilliant but you need to rotate strikers and I just don’t think we get enough from the other two.

Ps re Bolton , the comparison is tomorrow as they appear to have pushed the boat out for top 2, I don’t think we have.

Not holding out much hope for tomorrow to be honest as it's a bit early for our new signings and I think, at the moment, Bolton have a better team. Anyway, I'm off to Emley v Frickley and I'll be drinking beer and eating pies in view of the pitch.

However, if both Cole and McAtee were injured, I think we'd be absolutely fine. Most people think Watters and Cosgrove are crap but they're not, they just haven't had a run of games. They've only got 12 league starts between them and 4 goals, and a few assists. Get Pines and Earl in the side, wing backs of Cadden and Williams, a midfield of Kane, Connell and Phillips and Cosgrove and Watters would fill their boots.

What do you mean you need to rotate strikers!?, why is that?.....if a striker is on form and scoring regular you keep playing him, if he isn’t you drop him......you don’t rotate for sake of it, especially at our level, can’t see where you coming from tbh with this post

Given their respective goalscoring records, that would hardly be a disaster.

    injuries, suspensions.
    Not playing a full 90 minutes….

There seems to be a lot of challenge and questioning what is a pretty basic point I was trying to make:

our reserve strikers aren't very good and we needed a better one !!!!

anyway , that’s in the past and we are where we are : COYR
