not trying to be miserable I just think people didn't respond to my point, but to the headline if I had 2 million quid I'd spend a million trying to keep the club up, but I have **** all. I just think a fan pacifying manager would be the last straw, as we may make the same sorts of decisions Donny did with loans of crap players, instead of at least trying out the young lads we have
May be it's because old the BOLD heading of your thread? The meaning of a communication is how it is understood by its receivers. Aint tha ever dun NLP?
i have actually, that is why the headline is meant to grab the attention to read the body... no one on here seems to bother - too many sun readers obviously
OK, I'll ignore that abusive response and the attention-grabbing headline which apparently we were supposed to disregard (who knew?) and respond to the body of the OP. "No way"? Do you have anything to back this up or is it just your opinion? If the job isn't going to be there at the end of the season then that's not really an option. Compo does seem to be an issue for SOD, agreed, but I'm not convinced that the timing would actually rule out that many managers. That's just my opinion though and I respect that you disagree. I don't think any appointment will be made in haste or just to keep fans happy - I believe Mr Cryne has the long-term interests of the club at heart and I trust him to make the right decision to that end. No new ideas i'm afraid - I'm putting my faith in the people who saved and run the club, naive though I know some people find that.
Thanks Mr Burgundy for actually reading & responding to my post... you didn't have to... it is a free country, so respect. I do worry that the board, which if Mr Cryne has much input into these days may be swayed to put in someone like Megson, Redfearn, or another lower division magager & make a bunch of loan signinging that may dwindle the coffers further to no long term result. Without money I'm struggling to see what can be done. I doubt quality names like S O'D, Coyle, Davies would touch the job at present. Another short term appointment would do this club no good at all.
I think we're down. It's not four points we need - twenty five points keeps nobody up, we need a second half of the season that generates 30 points. Traditionally we have a poor second half of the season, we haven't got better after Christmas for many a season. I see few reasons for optimism. Our 'board' inspires nobody. The club is run like a charity shop, and it expects people respond with charity. Our squad is mediocre to poor, and we don't know how to keep a good player or make decent money out of one. We don't have substantial gates and we have a number of clubs in the immediate vicinity to draw fans who fancy watching a game on a Saturday. Most giving more enjoyment and value for money too. From what I can see every time I go to an away game nearly every club in this division is trying harder to attract fans and give them a better experience, and deliver more on the pitch. We're bottom for a reason. Yes we really are that bad. We don't deserve to stop up. Just like the last time we went down, we're due. We've been guilty of complacency and we've been dicing with relegation for years. We've never kicked on and established ourselves. This is what you get.
I will only accept the fact we are relegated on the last day of the season at whatever time the matches finish this year. Then if we are 3rd from bottom I will be praying that some other team have points deducted and we climb to 4th bottom, if that is not forth coming I will then and only the accept relegation, not one second before it is proved to be a mathematical certainty and all other avenues are closed. Last season Portsmouth got a 10 points deduction, it seems a few teams are looking shaky this season.
We have the stink of championship death about us at the moment. We do need a goalscorer. To state the blindingly ovo. Davies' departure does give us a chance though. Cos let's face it, we were all hoping he'd manoevre himself into a radar position before letting fly. Otherwise, no goal. We now have RNL doing that, albeit with less faith. So we could play a more aggressive way upfront. When it comes in from the flank (which our squad is well capable of), we need someone who looks a handfull up front to mix it, and a sniffer to wolf the scraps. Simples
We are not down and no I won't accept it. I'm too used to scrapping for the little bit I get out of life. If I was defeatist, I'd be doomed - doooooooooooomed I tell thi! And that is all I have to say on the subject.
so peachy sir. we have at least 300,000 coming in through the sale of davies. we are not in negative equity like the other 23 clubs in this division. we are 4 points from 21st place, although our goal difference is like another 2 points. two wins gets us back to square one and a 20 game season will begin. Tradionally we are good 1st half of season not this so we are going to click in the second half. An experiance manger like Gary Megson is just what we need. It might not be nice to watch BUT he will get us results. We are 2 defenders and a decent striker away from a team.Rob Earnshaw is available. would he come who knows. there you go thats the plan. Give ya sen a shek and GET BEHIND EM.
