I went to that, deffo lost 1 - 0, more than likely Riley scored as he always notched when playing us.

What I do remember is hiding under a pub table as every window was bricked by, bizarrely, Chelsea nutters.

Gang up on an individual that has a different opinion?

If that’s how you see this thread you need to get your head from up your arse young ‘un.

Your OP was at best ill thought out, and possibly actually just plain nasty and downright daft.

As for can’t be arsed, does it not occur to you that those who say they aren’t going as they can’t be arsed might actually be embarrassed to admit that it’s because they can’t afford, or justify paying, £26 a ticket plus travel, food, drink (even if not booze), so just say that to save face?

I read somewhere that they’ve worked out that more than 50% of the population of Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham will not be able to avoid going into debt just by meeting basic living expenses between now and July 2023. These are people mainly in work who won’t be able to afford to pay their rent, bills, travel to work, a very basic food bill and NOTHING else out of their current income. Not a single thing other than core essentials and they won’t be able to afford that.

But we are only taking 2k to a toilet in Owlerton. Boo.

the other point of view is…..
Well done and big kudos to those who have bought tickets for Saturday. In such a difficult period with the cost of living alongside our poor form and competitive position i think thats a great achievement.

It'd called voting with your feet. Haven't renewed (first time in 10 plus years), won't attend whilst the board only bothered about balancing the books, Wendy's away would be on my list of away days but no chance this 'transitional season' not for me, we might actually have a decent manager but yes squad is psst poor and the Crynes should be ashamed if this is the best they can muster, delete that fckng spreadsheet ffs back the manager with some money seem to recall someone saying League 1 won't make much difference to attendances....oh really?

I assumed you to be quite a bit younger than me due to your op and you saying you bought a house five years ago.

    I may be wrong.

But I’m glad that’s the part of the post you picked out.

I’m not worried, if your skin is ‘pretty thick’ then the ‘bullying’ claim you made ( which it isn’t) shouldn’t bother you really. I disagree that taking 2k to Hillsbro is poor, it’s not at all bad all things considered. Also, this is the current figure, I think we’ll sell at least another 500

And just for some context, Plymouth are taking more than 2k to Derby on Saturday.

Shows what is possible when you get used to seeing your team winning and you feel a connection through the whole club. Look at the last time we were in this league and only the midweek trip to Shrewsbury was under a thousand away fans. Be interesting in May to compare the attendances of this season to when we last visited the same club. It's telling in home games too because in the Wycombe programme it reviewed the last time they came to us when there was over 11,000. This time we didn't get 10k against them.

Bit of a novelty away day for Plymouth fans though. Yes, it's a long way and commendable, but Plymouth has a bigger catchment area than us (higher population and lots of fans in Cornwall too), they are flying high in the table (one place above Derby), and a trip to Pride Park will be seen as a top away day for them I imagine. Contrast that with our trip to the sty and it's chalk n' cheese as they say.

Context, yes it’s a long- trip and as far as I can see their club is not going in what is perceived by a lot of fans to be a downward trajectory. Pretty sure Plymouth and surrounding areas on the whole is more affluent than Barnsley.

You are right about the catchment area, there are only 2 other professional clubs within 100 miles of Plymouth & one of them is Torquay in the National league the other being Exeter some 40 miles away , every time they play at home they have a big influx of fans coming across the Tamer bridge from Cornwall & basically they are so remote that the potential there is great , should they ever make the top flight it will really take off , my Mum came from Plymouth & I still have relatives there & when I have been down there visiting in the past I have taken games in & enjoyed the atmosphere , also it is worth noting that Plymouth is a big naval port which brings sailors & visitors from many parts which gives them scope to attract many occasional fans .
