Whatever, yawn, it's hardly big time wanting barnsley to perform at the level they have been for most of their footballing history is it though? Does tha come from Rochdale or bury thee? Lol!
I understand your point mate. but we live in a world, and follow a sport that is run by money, money money, which means debt, like it or not. And even if its too hot in the kitchen for little ole Barnsley. We must at least stand by the door, and hope for a few scraps..To be in the game we have to play by the same rules as everyone else.
Maybe it's just me but I'd rather we didn't play by those rules. Firstly because it means at some point the club is likely to cease to exist. Secondly it means success is dependent on someone else's fortune which means ignoring whatever means it has been gained. Thirdly I genuinely wouldn't be able to take the same pleasure in any success that comes our way. Fourthly, it won't last - football will implode and i'd rather we be in the position to walk away in tact. Basically I don't agree that because others are doing it we should just accept it and do it too. I would add that not all debt is bad. If there's a credible and planned way of paying it back it isn't necessarily a problem. But accumulating debt on the premise of paying it off if we get promoted isn't a credible repayment plan.
Keith's work (and Flitcroft's) gave us an increased budget this year because we've sold about £5 million worth of laiker since they took over. The problem we've had is that we wasted it. You could argue that part of the plan worked but then we shifted and started signing kids we didn't need and that are no better than what we have.
I think there's some validity to that in regards to Stones, but I don't think for a second can you question the role of Hill in Butterfield's career
I'm sure he helped develop him but he was hardly polishing a turd. They've done bugger all with RNL and Digby.
If you read my post fully I did say I wouldn't watch this lot. If we do go down and do not change this squad significantly then it's you that will be the sucker watching them and not I in league 1. You almost sound like you want to watch ale house footy again after seven years back at our historic natural level.
No, cos I'll toss watching footy off and just frequent the golf course till we come back up. Much more enjoyable way to spend Saturday afternoons! sy thy!
I've found over the 30 years following barnsley it's very handy to have another pastime that takes your mind off the footy and I was never bothered about fishing! Lol! At the end of the day we all want the reds to do well and the dross those two blokes from Rochdale have left us reminds me a little of the spackman era and we know what happened there.... :/
Come on mate, he was in and out of the team and when he started he was hauled off after an hour. Hill put huge faith in him and he rewarded that faith. Plenty to have a go at Hill about, but not his treatment of Jacob
