I have not said anything about how he treated Butterfield, but Robins brought Jake to the point where he was ready to start matches regularly, if Robins had stayed then Jake would have been the lynch pin he was under Hill, but to say it was Hill that improved him is just as wrong !
Hmmm, I disagree on that. Butterfield certainly wouldn't have seen as much as the ball under the way we played under Robins. Jacob needed a team built around him and that's what Hill did. It brought out the best in him, and the responsibility of captaincy also helped.
60 replies to a thread basically telling us they've left us up **** creek. Anyone remember Colchester come up with lower league players have a flash in the pan good season then go down?
`tis your right to disagree mate, after all this what a discussion forum such as the BBS is for, well should be for anyway !
Simple fact is that during their tenure we've made much more in transfer fees than we have in years. Yup, Stones & Butterfield were already here but neither were focal points of the side - maybe they got lucky pr maybe part of their plan worked. You are allowed to give em some credit mate, you know, have a reasoned discussion about their time here.
Nowt wrong wy big john! Tha can wear silly clothes when ur a millionaire major winner! Plus he's American! A wonder if he'd invest at Oakwell?
PS Vaz Te, Davies and Golbourne weren't already here. About 1.5 million which is still more than Robins brought in with his signings (I think)
But that's £3 million of the money though, what were the rest flogged for? £3 million already here...
Eventually we will. It took 19 years when we went down to Division 3 North in 1959 including a stint in Division 4. But once the corner was turned the foundations were there for the last 35 years which have arguably been as successful as any in our history.
not so sure myself, the 2nd division(championship)will be flooded with teams using parachute payments from the premier and even some of these will have found their way to league 1,very different to 1959, its a pity we wont get owt for being relegated, just shows how ridiculous the whole football league has become.
