ff what exactly is it your after. ill make the site if you want. then all you will have to pay for is hosting & domain name
http://www.dhthomas.co.uk/
This type of thing is what I've been quoted for.
But is it just a glorified advert ?

£400 ... for that site is a TOTAL and UTTER rip off. I could knock sommet like that up in a few hours. Tony.
It's probably about the going rate for a small business website. I've seen projects where its cost the client £1000s per page - but that's the nature of IT.
You will be able to get it done much cheaper - I know some Indians who'd probably do it for £50. You could host a site like that for £20-30 a year.
If the companies designs are good then it might be worth paying this much. Really depends on the quality. That example you showed looked poor IMHO though.

RE: It's probably about It would be fine if there was an element of design to it, but that sites clearly been knocked up with a template and you can get the same thing for about £100 easily.
Wasn't mr Hartog just pointing to another glasses shop One that he quite liked, rather than a web site that had been done by the firm in question?
RE: Wasn't mr Hartog just pointing to another glasses shop either way that site was created using a basic template and you can get similar things done for about £100 or less.
RE: Wasn't mr Hartog just pointing to another glasses shop The website I pointed to is similar to the one that the co. wants to do for me. That other opticians is one of their clients.
Tell thi summat, this business malarkey's a reight game.

chuff If they get away with building summat like that, at them prices, and run a business on it then I am starting my own company. I could knock summat better up in 30 minutes. 1/2 hour * £400 = £800/hour working part time, 4 hours*£800 = £3200 day. 3 days a week, dont want to over do it, 3*3200=£9600 working half a year, 26*£3200 = £249600 per year. And I only have to build 624 websites a year. Thats the business plan sorted, Id better hand my notice in and Im in the money.
seriously As you may have gathered, does seem a pretty poor site for that sort of money. Im not sure what normal costs are for small static sites, we charge owt up to £750 day for top notch application development. But you get a lot more for your money than that. And I reckon even the poorest developer could build that in 1/2 a day. Anyway, if people on here are offering their help, Id be tempted to go with that. Then get some cheap hosting, 1and1 are ok and cheapish. If you are struggling drop me a pm and will try to help.
