Have you looked at Tankersley Manor? The function room at the back is fairly big. Reckon it'll do 200 guests. Few photos on my facebook of our wedding there.
We had our Wedding do at Wentworth Castle after a Church ceremony. It was brilliant. We had two rooms ... one for the band/ disco and one for the meal. Have to say the food was top notch, though it was 15 years ago. Stayed over in the castle, as did quite a few guests. Brillint venue for us. Can't remember numbers .... probably about 100 for sit down . My sister had a do at Bagden Hall which might be worth a look.
I'm my capacity as a DJ not too many venues can seat 200. Harewood House has a permanent marquee set up for large weddings in the summer. Cutlers Hall in Sheffield is massive - they can seat hundreds. Brooklands in Dodworth has a couple of big function rooms. Bagden Hall, as already mentioned is a decent size, but think 200 may be too many. If you need a DJ let me know www.theHi-Life.co.uk
My niece had her wedding reception and do at night at Northern College at Stainborough. Great food, top notch facilities, wonderful surroundings, spectacular scenery. Rooms were available for the guests who were from outside the area, but stopping over. The gardens provided an excellent backdrop for the photographs, both professional and other.
We got Married in Santorini but had a big do back here at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Stunning place and amazing food. Bit pricey like but it was worth it. They are just converting the mansion house in the park grounds into a hotel which would be ready by the time your looking to get married so could be an even better location by then.
Milton Hall, Elsecar for the place? http://forgeam.net16.net/venues/milton_hall2.html 240 seated Nice surroundings and pubs around it.
Cheers everyone. Will take a look. Already bored and considering Vegas with a transvestite as witness.
Have you considered Wortley Hall? Or something a bit out of the ordinary like Kelham Island Museum - they now do weddings and they've their own real ale pub.
We got married at Donny Racecourse and I could not fault it. Obviously the irish would love that with views from the big function room in the new main stand. The room for the wedding itself is the old weighing room on the finish line, it looks mint when its done for a wedding. After the meal you can go out onto the lawns where the posh ****s go on raceday. Honestly mate I wouldnt advocate it unless I thought it was a winner.
I got married at Tankersley Manor. It was nice, but is obviously cursed as I'm still stuck with the Missus. Have you considered telling her it's all booked then blowing her out a few weeks before the wedding? With a face like yours the marriage isn't exactly going to last anyway. I'd make an excellent marriage guidance counsellor.
Ahem. I hope YOUR good lady corrects YOUR written work. I don't know, you 'Lah-di-dah' University types !
Come on Andy, bite ! I've got to have someone to have a slanging match with now my portly friend Redstar is no more
I once tried to help her out by marking the year 6 maths books. Problem was I could only get half the answers
Worst of it is, after I'd struggled with my bit of paper for half an hour she told me it was mental maths where it's read out and they have three seconds to answer each one
Ok work this one out then. How many times does an Andy, a Bob and a Dave go into a pub ? and is the answer 18th ? Come on, no calculator.
Unfortunately that is affected by the square root of being away in Manchester that weekend and the simultaneous equation of your dry January
