I wouldn't ever want Pulis style of Football for us so obviously I would be happy with it at Wednesday boring them to tears Pearson gets linked with them every time they need a new boss but I think he's let it be known much like Mick with us that he'd never accept it as he wouldn't want to ruin his playing legacy.
I can't ever remember Wednesday playing decent football though. I've always thought they were boring. I don't know whether it's because they play in a dingy stadium where the sun doesn't shine and their kit colour is dowdy.
They're just ****. Their stadium isn't dinghy it's falling down, it isn't fit for purpose and they should be relegated to L1 forthwith
He would actually be a good choice. Plus he's got experience at a number of clubs that lived beyond their means.
He's the ideal candidate for a sleeping giant like Wednesday. Very, very good win record. Neat, technical football. Still young, so has many years yet to hone his craft. Surely he'd tick every box?
Got us to a Wembley final, and takes the credit for building the squad which eventually rose to seventh in the Championship. Humbled Mourinho in a night for the ages at Ashton Gate. A man with a well-defined tactical blueprint, including the prioritisation of individual brilliance. Was not out of his depth against Pep Guardiola, who actually said that Lee's team performed better than most Premier League sides. I obviously can't tell Dejphon Chansiri what to do. But if I could, I'd be advising him to seriously consider Lee. If he can iron out the odd little bad run, he'll be a stellar appointment.
He was very lucky not to get the sack, we had a very lenient board I'll say. We were bottom of the league in December and had lost to a non league side in the FA Cup with Altrincham. We signed Adam Hamill second spell, against LJs wishes. The upturn in form magically coincides with Adam Hamills return. Beforehand, we had several home games where we didn't even have a shot on target. He is responsible for my wife not going to football matches anymore. But you're perfectly entitled to your opinion.
Putting all rivalry with Sheffield Wednesday aside, I just feel it's a shame that a man of his considerable talents has been out of work for this length of time. This is a man who contextualised his own understanding of football by spending time in an emergency ward at a hospital: to Lee Johnson, football is the most important of all the unimportant things in the world. In my opinion, someone who can recognise this is more than just the coach of a sports team. I think, in some ways, the players Johnson had here were not capable of interpreting his sophisticated tactical instruction - yet I feel certain that the passage of time will have moderated the delivery of his message, without taking the edge off his demands. Football is in the guy's blood - thanks to his dad, he was more-or-less born kicking a ball. Whatever your criticisms of his methods, the game is all he has ever known. It seems perverse to talk down his chances of reviving Wednesday.
"I think, in some ways, the players Johnson had here were not capable of interpreting his sophisticated tactical instruction" Was that - pass sideways continuously and don't shoot! That's a joke lol OK, Seriously now: Irrespective of whether he's got football in his blood, which is indisputable, he obviously learnt from his mistakes at Barnsley - which were in abundance. Whatever he's done since he left Barnsley FC I don't really care about. I care that I had to endure his 12 month tenure (which should have considerably shorter might I add), because most of the football was truly awful and more importantly put paid to my wife not attending Oakwell anymore.
Completely agree. If anything I don’t think he gave enough tactical instructions. His whole game plan just seemed to be to dominate possession but he didn’t play with any width & the build up was really slow which meant that we struggled to break teams down & then his team had no organisation out of possession so we’d regularly get picked off on the counter attack. The game where Shrewsbury bet us at Oakwell through a late Jordan Clark winner on the counter attack seemed to sum up his reign for me. It felt like it happened about 15 times that season. Some on here used to defend him saying we had the majority of possession & more shots but we very rarely created clear chances as everything was played in front of their defence & a lot of our possession was in areas where we couldn’t hurt the opposition. I’ve often defended managers on here when they’ve had to blood an almost new team but Johnson took over a team where most of the best players had already had a season with us & we should’ve been performing a lot better. He somehow managed to make Hourihane, Scowen & Winnall look worse than when they’d first joined us until Hammill signed.
Too likeable to be Wednesday manager. There is a guy managing Fleetwood they should consider. I could then hate them 200% more than I do already. I really don't think he's going to come out on top in scrap with VI.
