RE: he's got to be fired. If he keeps us up he then deserves another crack next season starting a fresh with a pre-season to get his players in along with getting shut of all the *****. If he really is that good a coach we will see it in the players after pre-season.
The invisible other centre forward the one not beside stan, he had incredible skills because he managed to turn into an attacking midfielder for the larger part of the game. So not 4-4-2 as traditionally seen. Which I might add is not a construct of saint Andy.
The PPG may be better We may even stay up, but the enormous sense of disillusionment that I started to feel on New Year's Day still remains.
RE: The invisible other centre forward is that the one on the shoulder of the last defender making runs for the ball over the top (which didn't come) to scamper on to from his attacking midfield position?
Sorry mate but the concensus is it was 4 4 2 in addition to that they lined up way at all the re-starts.

No, not quite a Ritchie performance. I think Devaney and Reid played more as wide midfielders rather than out and out wingers. They didn't hug the touch line as much as Devaney and McIndoe did under AR. Not that that's a dig at AR. Who knows if he would have pulled the wingers back a bit and got them playing with less wild abandon if he had stayed.
I think the Club handled his sacking very badly. I personally would have let him talk to Wednesday, but then Shepard would have been criticised if he had done. I also think AR was trying to put pressure on the board with his talk of contract talks. I wouldn't have negotiated a new contract with any manager with 9 months left on his contract and the team in the drop zone. That to me didn't make sense. There was no need for the Club to negotiate a new contract with him at that time.
So I would say both Shepard and Ritchie were at fault for letting the contract situation get into the public domain.

sorry but stan was largely the only forward. And it was he, if anyone, whom was with the last defender. consensus on here is mostly ballacks no team spirit, Kay will never play again, etc etc etc ad infinitum
Agree entirely, also Radio Sheffield had a lot to do with the problem, badgering both Ritchie and Sheppard over the new contract.
Thought playing wingers on the 'wrong' wings made them plat deeper as they were looking to cut in.

The board got it all wrong. They were not acting as one, that was the problem. The fault is theirs, no one elses.
At the end of the season Davey will have 12 months of his contract left. If we are in the 1st division then he should be sacked. If we remain in the Championship, then he should be allowed 10 matches next season to see if he as improved as a manager. It's not just about keeping Barnsley up ( althought it is the number one priority at the mo). It's his ability to bring in some quality in pre-season. On the evidence of the last transfer window he is relying on Nyatanga and Ferenzci as his main players, the rest he as brought in have contributed little to the cause.
Disagree Think we need to stick with him, wasnt happy at his appointment, but what have we achieved in the past by chopping and changing managers, people say he just stands there but if u saw him today he does care, and he came out and said the fans were awesome today and said to the players at H/T that the fans will support you if you work like that. Thats my opinion. Bring on the backlash
RE: Disagree I must admit, whether we stay up or go down, I'd be reluctant to see the revolving manager's door spin once again. There was no established manager to replace Ritchie - what makes anyone think Shepherd would be able to find one to replace Davey? I think he was the wrong appointment, I don't think we should ever have sacked Ritchie, but what's getting shut going to achieve without anyone suitable to replace him?
RE: How on "gods" good earth were we playing AR's tactics?? **** i love that Cardiff photo. Shame it seems like years ago now
RE: How on "gods" good earth were we playing AR's tactics?? A lot of euphoria squandered this season... Today was a much needed boost to the spirit...
