He was poor but I really don't think people can question his effort one bit. Cadden seems to have taken over the mantel of scapegoat recently. Today showed why Williams was often played in a back 3. That track back and tackle. A lot of the time the tackle wasn't always necessary because Williams had already done the interception, but a lot of people only notice the crucial ( yet bloody brilliant ) tackle. Despite having poor performances there, its one of the things I didnt like Collins getting hammered for
I could understand playing Williams at center back if your keeping a high line. And as for cadden no scapegoat but just saying what I've seen. Doesn't look the same player.
I dont specifically mean you in regards to Cadden, bud. No doubt performance wise hes dropped off. But I think its completely wrong for anyone to question his work rate etc. Loads of players drop off, doesnt mean they just stop all of a sudden trying etc
No competition for his spot either due to our absolute car crash recruitment in the summer and continued in January. Think it’s best for both parties that Cadden moves on. Offers very little going forward and regularly loses the ball shame cos he was great last season but an absolute shadow of himself this season. Spent more time waving and being ignored by our team today.
He was. Kept trying to play Cole in and flicked it on to nobody. I'd have brought Grant on and played 4 in central midfield. If we're going persist with static football we need to overload the middle of the park, don't press as high and it will stop us being stretched. Northampton were very incisive on rare occasion they attacked. There's been posters praising Williams' tackle. It shouldn't have been last ditch though. In a nut shell if we're going to play possession based football we need more bodies in the midfield.
Put himself about but did more harm than good. Looked a sending off waiting to happen. Niggly fouls all the time.
He wasn't particularly good either though. That was one of his poorer games for me. Wasted the gilt-edged chance he had and created very little. Ran about a lot as usual.
Figures. It's the pyschi of a lot of Barnsley fans. I'd rather have some finesse and a player that can do a job and be effective. As opposed to someone who is 5 hit but runs about.
I have to agree about Cadden. I don't think it's down to a lack of effort, but he seems unable to beat a man now and get a good cross in. He's certainly not performing as he did when Duff was gaffer.
