Puzzled me also. Maybe he wanted Davies to have a bit of success against him? Best I coudl come up with.

Re: Doesn't seem to be doing too much different from last season

He had a very good game did JOB. Never stops making the runs which keeps their defenders on their heels. He is turning into an important player for us. Thought Drinkwater was his usual busy self, he is forever snapping at heels trying to win the ball back, but he was a bit loose with the ball at times, similar story for Doyle, but both had decent games. Unsung heroes for me though were Foster, Edwards and McNulty, defended very well. I have been very impressed with McNulty so far, CB or LB he puts in a performance.

Have to agree. Destroyed Easton for most of the first half. Drifted in and out in the second but a great performance. Its like we've signed a different player this season, I don't know if its having a season to adjust to the championship, getting a run in the team or the Hillcroft effect but its most welcome. Nice one Jim!

    Quite so.

Although O'Brien was caught sleeping when Trippier escaped down the right hand side moments later.

For me its the system that he has been crying out for last season apart from himself and Butts there was very little pass and movement from the rest of the team.

This season he seems to have been given more freedom, gets given the ball more when in space meaning he is much more involved and with that his confidence has grown and so have is performances and assists. His downside for me is his scoring record.

Last season he got lambasted for wanting the ball when in space and throwing a paddy because he didn`t receive it, which was strangebeing criticised for showing some passion, this season Doyle and Butts in the main are pinging some great balls out to him but he`s still furious if he doesn`t get the ball.

For me he his a team player rather than an individual and just what Mr Hill wants, keep it up Jim consistency is the key.
