You're so wrong. It's about time an England team is more than hype. I sincerely hope that's the case.

Look at the so called golden generations under Sven Goran Erikkson and Fabio Capello.

When people say he's won nothing. Yet Southgate came in without the experience those 2 have had before him. A spell in charge of Middlesbrough plus the England u21s is all Southgate has had to fall back on.

He's taken the team from no real direction in late 2016 following Roy Hodgson and the Sam Allardyce farce to a team/squad with real quality and togetherness and installed real belief and deserved high expectations.

Can't agree...he's had a couple of dodgy moments in the competition but he's proved to be a very reliable pair of hands....or right foot anyway.

I feel a bit sorry for Tripps, being forced into that part of the team, and he is making the effort.
But there is no attacking options on that wing, as he can't or maybe doesn't want to really try to take on the defender.
And I thought he was poor to begin with tonight.

I don't even understand what this means? We've lost 1 game in 11 in the last two European Championships. We're into the final again. This team is demonstrably more than hype. If we lose to Spain on Sunday that's not a failure - its just sport.

I don't think Southgate wants him to take on defenders, he's on the wrong foot to start off..I think Southgate wants him to do one main task to protect Guehi and the left side of the defence, and losing possession in the top third of the pitch would be a potential disaster.

Yeah Tatty, that is also my point exactly!.
Gareth took the job in season '16, maybe even as the third or fourth choice.
It was a disastrous Euro '16 tournament for us, after the Iceland defeat, and the farce afterwards with fat Sam.
Expectations were low when Gareth took over, but look at what we've done in the tournaments since then, under him.

Well you should have drawn something instead then....or changed "keeps" to "gets" or summat - what's the point of having talent if you don't use it?

    Nabbing somebody else's efforts...passing it on.....shameful.

And it's badly background coloured. And too much in-your-face.

    Never mind this nowt-to-do-with-me-Guv- stuff.

There were even less attacking options down that side when he went off.

Southgate got it spot on first half. After the break, Dutch adjustment killed the game. They went like most do against us. Low block, play on the break. Asked us to break down their 5-5-0. I was waiting for Gareth to alter things, and feared a Holland winner. He went later than I’d hoped for, but you can’t knock the changes. Perfect management. A runner up top and a player who knows only how to play forward. They combine for that magic moment.

Great performance against a good side.

Confident for Sunday. The Spanish will not sit in. Surely?

England last night were much, much better in the first half. Quicker, more attacking straight from the kick off. Forden was a different player unshackled from the left wing, Saka drifted inside a lot more. We were a good team. Second half we reverted a bit to static and conservative but luckily the Dutch were no better. Full credit to Southgate for having the positivity to bring on Palmer and Watkins and go for it. It worked.
I'm still very much not a fan of Southgate and I'm not sure what would have happened we'd gone ahead with 30 minutes left instead of 30 seconds but full credit to him last night. He changed the tactics slightly, we were quicker and more positive and he pushed for the win when the game had gone flat.
For me though Watkins should start the final. Kane was impotent again last night. And yes, I know he scored a penalty.

T'was on Talksport yesterday that he's going to get a knighthood win or lose..

But the 'honour' is given by the establishment for their services to them and it's not a public accolade.. like the one our current prime minister has.. it's absolutely worthless.. unless you are in or support their club..
