My arse? not me choosing to have principles when it suits, as i said you will be back supporting the reds your history that you mentioned says as much, what if they get through, draw another big club and the prices arnt agreeable, is that when your principles kick in again?
AHHH so its BARNSLEY we're going to watch then not man u? In which case why have the club raised the price against their customer charter without explanation (which incidentally is another breach of the charter)?
Not doing so is a breach of the customer charter in itself. I wouldn't mind knowing why the charter itself claims to have been last updated in June when in actual fact we all know it was updated just 17 days ago.
Amateurs We are seen as a small time club by fans of other teams and we've played up to it with this situation. "Man Utd are coming to town so we are going to charge more because people will love to see us play them".
thats where they have slipped up a simple statement saying how they had come to the price would have helped in some cases but others arn't happy unless they are having a gripe.
Yes, your arse I'm not choosing principles when it suits. When the season begins, the club have a pricing policy. The policy in this case was the "cup games would cost no more than league games" an unambiguous statement. So when the club decided to renegue on that policy I have decided I will not be paying the price. And yes, if we have another game this season where the price exceeds that of a normal match day ticket, I won't be going.
Ticket prices have to be agreed between the two clubs. If they put a 'club statement' on the official site saying exactly that, would you change your mind and go? >> ABUSIVE COMMENT REMOVED BY SITE ADMIN <<
No your arse can see your point about the charter, but in hindsight i bet they wish they hadn't put that in as they have no control over situations like the one we have now1 Don't believe they have gone out to rip anyone off, not PCs style, sure you will agree on that1
"but will be no higher than for a league game" or is reading something you have difficulty with. If the club had charged the same as for a league game then I'd be going.
You appear to be missing the point Yes the price has to be agreed between the two clubs but that hardly explains anything does it? Did manchester united suggest a much higher price and barnsley suggest £20 and the FL stepped in and set the price? Did man utd suggest higher, we suggested lower and to avoid the FL stepping in we agreed to set the price at £25? Did we both suggest around £25? Did barnsley suggest £25 and manchester united happily accepted? Did manchester united suggest £20 and WE refused to keep the price so low? Simply saying 'it had to be agreed between both clubs' does not answer anything at all. If it did then section 4.11 of the customer charter would not exist. Would you agree that the customer charter has been breached by raising the price above that of league games? If you do agree (I don't see how you can't) then do you also agree that section 4.11 should have been followed and an explanation given at the earliest possible opportunity via the programme, official site and local media?
see here http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=153879&mid=1041542#M1041542 If a full explanation had been posted then I don't think anyone could have complained (provided the explanation didn't say 'we decided to cash in, **** ya' of course)
No charter, no problem The club shouldn't publish rules it can neither stick to nor even have the decency to admit they've changed at the drop of a hat.
Would you have been happy if the price for the game was set at £25 but a statement explaining that this was because manchester united refused to accept a lower price had been released via the official site?
FAO spartacus fair enough spartacus you have your opinion which you are entitled to so is everyone else. you also have your principals and if you think that the ticket price agreement Barnsley fc and Manchester united fc have struck up is against your morals then dont go..... fine.... but stop going on about it now ...... its happened the decisions been made the tickets have been sold so wind ur neck back in, get urself to the pub, have a few pints and then go get behind the reds in a match versues Doncaster which your high principals are allowing you to go to. and for everyone else whether you be at Barnsley vs man utd, doncaster, frickley, ragged arse rovers, whether it be at oakwell, old trafford, the san siro or arhersley rec.....lets just get behind the reds and save arguing about money and prices to saturday afternoons in the asda with the wife!!!! Amen
RE: You appear to be missing the point not missing the point mate i agree 100%, just saying that in hindsight that clause shoud not have been in there ie no control over pricing these situations, but its not PCs style to rip off the fans!
To be fair we don't know what PCs style is do we? You could argue on both sides for hours if you wanted to. Kits changed every season plus 3rd kit appearing regularly along with pre season kits, no reserve games in season tickets anymore, ticket prices raised for 'big game', free commentary of home matches replaced with paid fro commentary etc. If you wanted to argue against him then you could just as you could quite easily argue in favour (lower season ticket price, free entry to friendlies, cheaper lower round games etc) I don't think there is anything wrong with the clause being in the charter because 4.11 if adhered to covers the situation perfectly. The problem that I have is that while they may have had no choice but to break the first part of the charter they actually CHOSE to break the second part and that to me is unacceptable because it says a lot about how much the customer means to them.
RE: see here see your point but whatever the club had done wether it be statement wise or pleading ont tarn hall steps you would still have principle ridden bleeding heart hard done by whinging barstewards having a go, makes ya wonder why PC puts up with it he just cant win!!
