Why does the club have to release a statement any time we lose or fail to sign a player?

Do you want them grovelling and moping around, apologizing for disappointing you?
I am slightly disappointed we didn't sign anyone, if only cos its exciting whenever we do, but I don't need the club to talk me though exactly why things didn't come off. We all know we are not financially strong, and that we have to be very careful not to go splurging again. We also know it is a very competitive market for players who can add something to a squad, and that there is no point signing mediocrity just for the sake of it.
Despite the 5-1 scoreline, we have impressed in every game so far this season and have not looked out of our depth at all. I agree we need more strength in depth, but hopefully a loan signing or two, and getting Nardy back, should help. Chin up.

    You said 80%

looking more like 40% at the time I write this based on DJ Fatty boy's poll at the time of writing so you are in a minority - even excluding the fact that the ones most likely to vote are the angry ones like you and Nudger

I think there was about 21-22 thousand 'reds' fans there. Amongst them were people like my brother in law and his nephew who are Palace fans but were reds for a day. My wife who hasn't been to footie for 20 years now has a season ticket, so we gained one there. She has enjoyed the start to the season. (and is also taking a healthy dislike of Donnie Rovers).

Prior to 97/98 we had over 10years of crap crowds, in 96/97 I think we got about 6,000 against Oxford and I think only about 13,000 were at the Charlton game (4:0) a week or so before we went up.

    Because

if they are willing to make a statement saying that it IS deadline day, and that news of "comings and goings" would be published "throughout the day", it might be as well to come clean as to who was chased, and what happened - just pure courtesy.

I wouldn't mind so much if they hadn't reverted to the default "Barnsley Building Society" account "story" which spends so long as the most exciting breaking news.

    good point.

Because a website aimed at Barnsley fans is no arena for getting an opinion from Barnsley fans.

so... do you go and watch the training?

cos how anyone can say if he can cut it or not based purely on seeing him for the last 2 or 3 minutes of every match when theres nothing left to play for defeats me.

Theres (from memory) only one match I can remember where he got nearly the whole game (away at brentford, came on after 15 mins). Tommy wright also got a start, and guess what...

They were the best 2 players on the pitch

I said from what I've seen. No I don't watch training that often. I guess you do and now you'll tell me that he looks awesome in training.

In my opinion, he is not good enough
