It's been like this since robins left, players in league one we're earning more then our top earners that's why we're stuck with a team of dross, anyone who thinks any manager would choose to work with these players if they wasn't force into by lack of funds, is a idiot
You are probably spot on there and lets be reight, would anyone be happy if we offered Lawrence top money based on what we've seen?
Standard of league one is dog ***** if you take the top 6/8 teams out of it any skill ability or reading of the game will put you head and shoulders above most in this league we don't need top earners and experience all we need heart guts and spirit that's it and you can get that out of players who don't demand high wages stick our youth with the players like job cog Dawson Jennings and well piss play offs
Plenty more clubs will have a bigger budget than us. Rotherham, Preston, Chesterfield, Sheff U, Peterborough just to name a few
Of those mentioned realistically only Sheff U will be able to spend more on wages given the restrictions of the salary cap. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Chesterfield this season have operated on a budget just 400K below ours! They were 2 leagues below us. There season ticket prices for next season, most expensive is £550! Avg crowds for Sheff U 17'506, Preston 10'234, Bradford 14'120, Bristol 11'928, Roth 8'450. Chesterfield have avg of 6'278 and that is only going to increase. Looking at season ticket prices / match day they are all more than what we charge, and Roth + Preston have yet to announce the cost for next season. People look at the league and see 'smaller clubs' but folk need to get real around the fact that quite a few will have much more bigger budgets. Peterborough, get smaller crowds but how much do they make on transfer fees each season? You always hear they sign someone from Non-league and then sell for millions.
Firstly how do you know our budget I have no idea. I suspect we will have paid more out in loans than Chesterfields entire budget. Chesterfield operate on a salary cap of 55% of turnover on wages therefore it's clear to me your figures are flawed based on their attendances/commercial activities. That would just not be possible. Bradford's attendances are boosted by selling very cheap season tickets. But are a comparable club to ours. Bristol City not in your initial analysis but a bigger club than ours and will have a bigger budget. Rotherham will have more in terms of transfer fees but less available for wages. Preston will have a comparable budget to ours In terms of selling players we are just as likely to sell a couple of million quids worth as anyone else. Spectating as been dulled over the last few years but in reality we should have one of the budgets in the top 10 of the division. We are a decent sized club in that league and given we have an experienced manager I would expect us to finish in the top 10.
So Bobby knows who we'll sign, what salary they'll be prepared to sign for and what budget the club has set for this season? Sorry, but I don't believe it.
If that's the case, perhaps Lawrence's wage demands were unrealistic for us in Division 1? If he wasn't prepared to compromise on his demands, then why should the club? It's just conjecture on my part. But that's no different to everyone else on this thread.
He'll have a fair idea, especially when it's been banded about by the agents after players have been approached and what we're offering. Do you think players keep it a secret after Barnsley have approached them or they may contact a player they already know at the club?
I believe Bobby has made what he considers to be a reasonable assessment of the club's available transfer & payroll budget. But he won't have access to the actual figures, nor should he. Even if he did, he is not allowed to put such private, confidential & sensitive information into the public domain.
Seen on twitter that there's a supposed 2k per week salary cap and so far everything that's coming out of the club seems to tally with that. Also should add it was from someone who claims to know one of the released players so there could be some truth in it.
Would be amazed if any of our contracted players fall under that cap what about Kennedy's mythical 4 grand a week... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Wouldn't 2 grand a week put us slightly above the average for League 1 anyhoo? Still equates to over 100 k per player. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
If the 2k cap is correct it will be for those three offered a contract and anyone brought in this summer.
I've got a friend in London who earns around £100k a year and his lifestyle is pretty sweet. So earning that much in Barnsley is hardly the penance some would make it out to be.
What do you want them to do,announce we're on the same budget so everyone can up their prices and wage demands,it's just brinkmanship so we don't get ripped off as usual
We will deffo struggle if this quote from a Bradfut fan is to be believed Taken from Morecambe,s Shrimps Voices on a discussion re Gary Thompson, an ex Morecambe player In regards to wages, I have no idea what you were paying him when he was at MFC. But, we were rumoured to be paying him around £1,800 per week. In comparison to what we pay McLean, Davies and Yeates ( £7,000, £5,500 and £3,500 respectively), he certainly contributed in that sense. If Bradfut are paying that sort of wage'''''''''''''''''''''''''''
