O Shea, Ferdinand, Carrick, Giggs, Rooney. Scholes also came on as a sub. More than the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool would have had, thats for sure. I'm not convinced that arguments stands any ground at all to be honest. Barca only had 5 spanish players starting the game also.

    Come on nudge

    1. Man U are as english as pizza or kebabs these days.</p>

    2. There are more Man U shirts than Barca shirts in tarn, so from a business perspective for BFC it's better that they lost.

    Barcelona definitely were better tonight

But it still doesn't mean that their league is better than the Premier League though.
The top five teams in England would definitely be somewhere near the top in the Spanish league as well, but I think that the low- and mid-table teams in the Premier League would get beaten by their Spanish counterparts, so it's difficult to say which league is better. I would say that the Premier League is a bit better at the moment, if that makes you feel better. :D

Nail on head. I do think our top 4 are generally stronger than the top 4 in the other major european nations but not sure we have the same strength in depth. Arsenal were pretty poor this season but still finished fourth which doesnt say a lot about the also rans. How many times since the premier league began have our teams outside of the top four won the UEFA cup?

I don't think you can claim to be Bryan Adams mate, just because you have all his albums Gaz. It doesn't work like that.

    The commentator had it correct

No need for 100mph football - just skill on the ball. However Barnsley and most UK fans want this 100mph type of football, hence the comments on this board regarding Diego Leon, who was MoM at West Ham, and had more skill and passing ability than most in our team.

I agree. I also thought Ferguson got his selection badly wrong. No Scholes? Rooney out wide? Ronaldo through the middle??? I couldnt believe how he set his side up.

Why is it there needs to be a post-mortem on the radio?

Radio 5 this morning - What can British football learn from Barcelona?
Talk Sport this afternoon - Why are we so far behind?

FFS it was 1 game, a final, you know when it's what happens on the day - it's not the end for English football, and correct me if I'm wrong but Man Utd beat Barcelona in the semi's last season and Chelsea were 2 mins from putting them out this time.
