Exactly. Both of the towns you mention Have excellent park and ride schemes that are cheap and efficient. The reason the town centre car parks cost so much is that they want to keep the cars out and they want you to use the park and ride facilities and I see no problem with that at all.
Its expensive so you'll use the Park & Ride so as not to clog up the centre Perfectly acceptable policy
RE: Its expensive so you'll use the Park & Ride so as not to clog up the centre does it run on christmas day?
You're assuming ... That you can get parked at the Park & Ride. Ever tried using the one at Meadowhell and getting the tram. I've tried it three times this year between 8am and 9am. Car park completely full and Meadowhall not opening until 9am.
Need to be there before 7.45 to get in the Park and Ride at Meadow-Hell In fairness, the main park and rides in York dwarf that of MH.
RE: Exactly. Both of the towns you mention How late do the park and ride facilities run on a Sunday?? I'm going to a gig there next month (it was supposed to be last night, but got rearranged) so I'm not looking forward to paying extortionate parking fees if I can help it.
RE: Er.. where exactly is the joke? It's there if you think hard enough. Me for one as a rep park and ride dragging samples on and off the bus plus loss of time isnt an option. Quite simply York is a grade 1 rip off for parking(£4 for 2 hrs) top rates for a space that virtually anything other than a mini overlaps the space and anybody whose on the big side would struggle to get out of the door.Nothing to do with global warming its neccessity. And its not just visitors the locals are up in arms about it.
RE: Exactly. Both of the towns you mention Try taking a car full with the family and all the paraphernalia that come with it ! Would you want to take pushchairs, spare coats, changing bags, toys, etc on a park and ride ? I do agree that it's the best way for many people and best for York, but for the time being it's no good for us. BTW, try the one at the Retail Outlet - can combine sightseeing with a bit of retail therapy
RE: Er.. you make 1 pretty big assumption there Funnily enough, my wife already has a Yaris T-Spirit, which i do not fit into. My legs press on the centre console & door. We've tried most models from Toyota to Kia... not big enough. Furthermore, i need a car that my family can fit into. Even with cars like an Audi A4, having a front seat all the way back turns it into a 3 seater for me. As i say, it's a "tall tax".
We were there on Xmas Eve too... ... parked outside the wall on Nunnery Lane, but didn't use the text option. Didn't stay as late as you though...had to get the kids home for Santa Did you go on the skating rink ? The weather (foggy) made it feel really Christmassy - was a great day out (nodding2fingers)
