Doesn't say a great deal more really. It doesn't analyse the type of chance or quality of the chance.

That’s pretty much what expected goals is which is on one of the graphs. Couple of stats websites do things like shot maps. Can’t find any for us but here’s an example.

 

Sorry to lower the tone, but we were bottom of the Championship for number of points gained from a losing position.

And our shot conversion stats were twice as bad as any other team in the league last season too.

So essentially, whilst we try to press and force teams into errors in their own half, we did nothing with it when we won the ball back.

I do think that our 5 main attackers, Woodrow, Chaplin, Brown, Schmidt and Simoes, are all fairly similar strikers, and rely on clear cut chances. We need just one striker with something a bit different to their game.

 

We tend to overplay the ball around their area and always seem to have to control the ball before shooting, that one touch costs us the chance of a shot.

 

More stats. This is based on the number of times we have the ball, not the percentage of time we have it. Again, clearly shows our plan, and the need to add some firepower to finish the chances that come our way. Being such an outlier is impressive in its own way.

 

You can likely extrapolate that we aren’t top of possession stats based on time and that our periods of possession are shorter than other teams.

That could indicate we give the ball away a hell of a lot and maybe we rush getting to the final shot allowing the quality of chance to suffer.
