Big semi’s are a rare pleasure these days.

Though half the participants are generally disappointed afterwards.

Well, there's no doubt that some Barnsley fans have already thrown in the towel.

Yeah and some of them have been doing it all season.
Apparently its more exciting for them to criticise than to give credit.

I think we can beat any team in the league if we play at our best however we can't play at our best every week so if we fall short at the last hurdle then so be it. We have no devine right to promotion.

I'm confident we CAN win the play offs and go up but I'm not confident we WILL do it. Not because of anything negative but just realism in that the other teams are there for valid reasons too. If any of the 4 go up it'll be deserved.

Out of the four of us I would argue that inca big game when it's needed we are by far the most committed and hardworking of the four. We showed that when we beat Wednesday, Plymouth ande Derby.

The manager has done fantastic, the players had done fantastic. The only thing that I'll be annoyed about is if one or two of our squad players don't turn up and let not us, but their teammates, down.

For me the top two was never realistically on, because I just couldn't see Plymouth and Ipswich losing enough games for us to overtake them.
So our brilliant run meant we could 'coast' it a bit in the remaining games, as 4th had already been achieved. Thats maybe not a good thing though, depending on what we all think about keeping momentum or not risking injuries etc.
Even if we end up losing in these Play offs, I'm sure we'll see a much better team performance now, because these aren't so called dead rubber games anymore.
This now is what the whole season has been about and building up towards. So fingers crossed, I trust Micky D and his team. :)

I'm excited! I've been sure I'll be taking my son to Wembley and that hasn't changed since we got into the play off positions

Its sometimes good to be positive rather than negative so I admire that. Based on recent performances though my glass is half empty. I know, I know....

Do you think they won’t be up for it?

They don’t have any edge. We got a comfortable draw at theirs and knocked them out of the FA Cup. They only beat us at our place because of a 1 goal and 1 man head start because of a useless referee. Even then the score line flattered them.

I don't share the assumption from the original poster that we're deslondent. I'm mot. I'm going to Bolton tomorrow in hope and expecting the 2nd leg to be competitive (if we haven't already made sure of a Wembley trip). :)

    I don't understand the negativity.
We've just seen Pboro absolutely annihilate the team that the majority here did not want to meet in the final, yet the majority here appears to think we have nothing to fear from Pboro, should we meet them.
    I agree.
So why all the despondency about Bolton.
We've played them 3 times this season. W1D1L1 and the defeat was a farce after the 10th minute red card. Yes, they are a horrible team to play against but so are many in this league and we've beaten the majority of them.
We have nothing to fear, it's in out hands, BELIEVE!

Think it’s a mix of of things. State of the country, cost of living etc. Even if i allow myself to contemplate Wembley, all I can foresee is expense and travel issues. Previously - train and Champagne, hotel, build up etc. Now, be lucky to afford a car share.

Also on a personal level - I just don’t want to face Wednesday at Wembley. We would have a week of unbearable “we’re selling out tickets” from their fans. Thankfully that prospect now looks unlikely.

And then there’s the Championship. Just a league full of £ and overspending. If we went up it’s just another battle. League One seasons are infinitely more enjoyable. That’s not me being negative - it’s just the reality.

I want us to win today, but if we don’t get any further I won’t be too upset. I think the state of football has just shifted the way alot of people feel.

You have worded that spot on.
I got called negative, at work, yesterday for saying that I wouldn’t be gutted if we didn’t get promoted.
Point being, I would rather be one of the best four teams in League One than one of the worst four in The Championship.
But, of course, we could go up and Duff could perform miracles so, for that reason, I hope we do go to Wembley and win.
