I think it's what we used to call "grinding out results" back in the day. God knows what they call it in the modern game. Some cool sounding tripe, I expect.

Did anybody else notice that we played it on the ground a lot more today than in recent weeks?

It would have been more impressive if we'd been passing to red shirts, but it's something to build on. ;)

Much better pitch than in recent weeks, horses for courses?

Not excellent just expensive. We played some attractive football at times between the two 18yrd boxes. We defended on the whole reasonably well. We looked again toothless in attack not one effort of note on target from any Barnsley player. We attempt the worst long throws I have ever seen. Some of the set piece crosses were embarrassing. None of the top sides are really stand out. I think it's a poor Championship compared to other seasons and am starting to become board by the whole experience.

An excellent side when it comes to time wasting and game management. But not an excellent footballing side on that performance. But the boy raised a good point. Teams like that see us as a night off, get 1 preferably 2 up and turn on the dirty tricks and save themselves for the next game. That’s how they progress by expending nothing and looking fresh for the next game. Whereas we have injuries galore at times from games like this running up against a brick wall of cheating and idiot refs.

Norwich and Bournemouth the best so far, but Derby beat Bournemouth last night.

Unfortunately Bournemouth were in good form when we played them, and dropped off in the last couple of weeks
