Thank Christ we didn't draw one of the Manchester clubs at home in the cup. That would have sparked even more conspiracy theories
Chuffed for those who were affected by this, such as @Farnham_Red and his father. In hindsight, they've managed to generate a huge amount of ill-will over this, which I'm sure would have been much reduced if it had been proposed as a temporary relocation for a few home games while repairs were made. No doubt the counter to this is that the timescales were uncertain, but if there was even a vague hint that the work was likely to be completed in a few weeks then a huge amount of emotion could have been removed from the situation. In terms of legendary BFC PR ****-ups, I think this one now tops anything that Don Rowing managed with his ticketing plans.
The cynical part of me thinks that when they first closed it they didnt have any plan to re-open it and just hoped to run the rest of the season with 3 stands - The original letter said "if" not "When" the West Stand reopens you can have your old seat back. I guess the fact there has been a continual outcry from fans and I suspect a large number of cancellations of season tickets has made them rethink and reopen - I do wonder how many of those refunded will come back. For sure if they had moved us and said it was just for a few games whilst they made repairs there would have been a lot less ill feeling
No I'm not having that, for me Don is still the king. His Liverpool away allocation will be stuff of legends for ever, and as for his Colchester stub ploy...say no more!
I've still got mine guarded in a safety deposit box, holy grail that is, gonna be worth millions one day.....
The displaced fans who got refunds should be offered their seats back for the rest of the season for a knock down price. The displaced fans who moved to the East Stand should get a very big early bird discount for next season. If the above doesn’t happen (it won’t) then I’m still calling bull-s**t.
As I got a pro-rata refund on my downgrade to an ESL ticket I expect to have to pay most of it back to upgrade back again - though it would be a nice guesture if the club waived that.
