that defeats the object though. My thoughts were we are very unlikely to need the extra capacity that a new stand would bring except once in a blue moon so the cost / use ratio is not justified. As it is now it looks tatty, if we renovated it properly it would be a genuine reminder of times gone by, bit like a museum but people who wanted could still use it. It would then be a genuine talking point rather than a the oddity that it is now.
Renovating it? It would be basically building a new stand to bring it up to scratch, it would be like triggers broom and cost a fortune. Why would it be extra capacity for a new stand? It holds 4,500 - a new stand with similar capacity but 21st century facilities would be fine. Glad the owners have this idea.
Totally agree - if the West side is to be redeveloped, with a bit of imaginative planning the existing stand , or part of it could be incorporated into any new structure.
Which part would you want to keep? I could be wrong but I think a rough timeline is Original stand that goes 2/3 the length of the pitch: 1900 or so Extensions to stretch full length of pitch: 1950 or so TV gantry: 1980 or so Lower tier: mid 90s Sides of stand: a couple of years old.
not sure, possibly a part of the central section ?? but incorporating it into any new development would be a challenge.
