And when some of them inevitably leave it'll be mildly disappointing, but this time we'll have players already at the club ready to step in.
The Chelsea game seems to have increased our reputation for pressing teams a lot, even though it's not particularly new. Not sure why Blackburn felt the need to change the way they play against us, given they'd already beaten us once already this season.
Depends who leaves. Unfortunately, we'll probably lose two of our spine (Mowatt and Dike) without getting a penny in. But Helik and Morris would be vital to keep, with this system and style of play. Styles will increasingly important if Mowatt goes. Of the others, I'd begrudgingly accept selling one or two if it meant we kept the rest of the team together. Biggest problem will be the players that nobody wants to buy, that we don't want to keep. We managed to kick that particular can down the road by loaning them out in Jan, but they'll be back in the summer. The idea of replacing Mowatt and Dike with Ritzmaier and Schmidt / Thomas sends a shiver down my spine.
The Chelsea game and the performance against Brentford days after hed him shitting himself or he didn`t have the faith in his system or players.
I actually think this sudden reputation is working in our favour. A team suddenly adapting there game for a one off encounter can't be easy to prepare for with so little time between games.
A bit like Hecky and 4-4-2 and picking his most talented players instead of farming them off to Oxford or leaving them in the reserves (Mallan).
He did me. He was our best player in the game with Wolves at home. I think had we stuck with Mowatt, Mallan, Mcgeehan and Moncur we'd have stayed up. It should have been Gardner or Williams not both.
I smarted a bit at the reference to our "rows of wooden seat in the main stand and red brick wall which doubles as urinals" I suppose technically the West Stand is the 'Main one' but it does ignore the fact that all three sides have moderns stands...alright not exacty state of the art but anyone reading that would think the rest for the ground comprised of 'sheds'
I think one of the most interesting parts was the comment that everyone has a part to play, no sulky subs cos you will be on and expected to run your blood to water. I'd imagine that will extend to fringe players as well. They'll get their chance as the season plays out and players become fatigued and injured with our press.
