I think they're just making the point that they are preparing as a Championship club, based on the league standings after the last game, which I suspect will be the basis of their input to the Wigan appeal.
Looks a good option this lad, be good for them to show some ambition and break the transfer record and get the main target
There's a very good thread in reply to that which analyses him. Seems very much like our kind of player - even down to his lack of clinical finishing!
Yep - those were my thoughts as well. Paul Conway - said best ever summer for signings - and I’d agreed with that. But there wasn’t quite enough of them. Time now to top that up with a few more. It dosen’t need a lot - but it needs a few - 3 or 4 will do it.
Wigan winning their appeal would be a Cheats Charter for championship clubs, especially involving as it would the sacrificing of a "fair play" club. I already loathe the Greed League and the Cheats League is heading the same way.
Not many seeing it for what it is though it’s poor old Wigan nasty Barnsley . How the hell the games gonna clean up with those attitudes I’ll never know . Folk just not seeing the Irony of why Wigan’s in that place even Wigan fans don’t seem to think they’ve done anything wrong . It’s as if the clubs a different entity to the owners plunging it into debt as if it should follow the owners and not the club .
I can't agree that breaking the transfer record would necessarily be showing ambition. The value of a transfer isn't always an indication of ambition in my opinion. Wednesday forking out £8m for Rhodes and Sunderland paying £5m for Will Grigg in League 1 smacked of desperation. Signing a player who appears to be well sought after does strike me as quite an ambitious move however.
I posted this yesterday. It would seem that Dykes is the better option. I have asked my nephew who works for Celtic about Liam Burt and Lyndon Dykes and does he think either are good enough for the Championship. This is his reply:- "Liam is a good pro but wasn’t with us for too long, just over a season. He’s a tidy player who can do well but I’m not sure he’ll have a big impact. Dykes is a tough player who has caused us problems over the years with his direct and abrasive style but it gets results".
Your are right fee doesn't always mean quality but this lad seems to have a few clubs after him some very big clubs too. Our transfer record hasn't been broken since the 90s I think so it's about time it happened aha
Rangers who were apparently the other club heavily linked have signed two strikers today one who looks like a big target man type like Dykes. Maybe this paves the way for Dykes coming to oakwell
