This highlights him. He isn' t the one that volleys the kid on the deck. To me it seems it's hard to say he started it or was the main protagonist. He shoves a woman out of the way at one point and she falls over - that seems the most contentious aspect of this footage. Fighting's a cnuts game unless you're very good at it, and he seems fairly handy and he seems to get stuck in when his mates are in bother.

Sometimes trouble finds you - looks like that's what happened here. Compare and contrast with England's Steven Gerrard who got off on a 'self defence' plea. Pity Kelvin wasn't more famous and/or white - he may ahve got off then.....

    Nice one pal.
And tbh, I agree with every word. I'm much more chilled about it now I know he wasn't the one doing the kicking.

I've seen enough 'strange' decisions from the legal process to not get too judgemental in some cases....

Themain reason given for his conviction was that he kicked a man three times whilst he was on the floor

Did they target him in a casino or in a court? Make your mind up . . .

    Ok you win.
Can you tell me when you became a magistrate? When did you actually understand anything that really happened and why you only believe what a footballer says?

Let's be honest, he wouldn't be signing for us if he hadn't been to prison. We can either sign lower league players with potential or players who have played at a higher level but, for whatever reason, their careers have stalled. He's served his time, he is entitled to rebuild his life. Hill seems to be a pretty good judge of character and he knows Ethuhu so hopefully it will work out for all parties

    I don't think that's true

Maybe other clubs aren't interested in him because he's been to prison, maybe that's why his career isn't going too well, but I think it's more likely that it's down to the fact that he hasn't produced the goods on the pitch. Clearly he was a good prospect when he was a kid otherwise Man City wouldn't have been interested, but the lower leagues (and non league football) are littered with good prospects. Kelvin Etuhu was a good prospect but it turns out he's not that good, so we've got him.

If he's capable of upping his game again then he'll be gone to someone better in January, prison record or not, if he's not then we'll keep him or he'll slip even further down the league pyramid.

    Re: I don't think that's true

Fair point. To be honest I don't know enough about him to say what his career trajectory was pre-prosecution. It seems to be a relatively risk free signing though. Hopefully he is good enough to make an impact but not so good that a bigger club want to sign him.

By the way, first time in a long time I've had a conversation with you. Missed it, hope your well

    Except it WAS him.

    From the bbc:

Striker Kelvin Etuhu, 22, previously admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.
He was caught on CCTV kicking Owen Fitzpatrick three times after knocking him to the ground with a punch outside Manchester's 235 Casino last February.

    Re: I don't think that's true

It appears we are no longer a family club. We have a manager who talks rubbish about not wanting to sign trouble causers, before he goes and does just that. He said the player wasn't worth offering the terms Pompey offered him so what's changed? It looks like a panic buy where because he's missed out on a number of other targets he's decided to offer him more to change his mind.

    Re: I don't think that's true

It wasn't Kelvin that kicked the other bloke in the head - Kelvin was the bloke in what appears to be a waistcoat, with an arrow on his head. Forgive my eyes, but I didn't see him kick anybody. I am not condoning his actions that night, but I was no angel at that age myself, so I am more than willing to accept that he's done wrong and done his time.
I'll judge him as a footballer, as there is nowt we can do about his conviction.

Got to agree YT. I was involved in some very similar bother when I was 18. Went to Court, got away without going down, but I have never been in Court again since, learned my lesson. Give the lad a break, he behaved foolishly, he has done nothing since to suggest it is a path he is going to follow again.
