Re: Results business So you're happy with defeats and relegation and poor performances. And you want everyone who holds a different view to shut up about it and not post on here.
I think 11 games in and most fans have forgotten what league we are in so finishing top half would be more than acceptable to most, whereas at the start of the season playoffs or better was more like the consensus. It does look like an up and down type season, the swingometer of opinions on here will mirror results but providing we end the season better than average, I think Wilson, given his history and affable, plain speaking nature, will be afforded more leniency in fans opinions than most recent managers. My main critique of any manager has always been and always will be of their signings. Im chuffed we've got Ramage on board cos he's plugged an obvious gap, we've still got one up front imho and its inevitable that this will be brought up again after our next disappointing result/performance.
Re: Results business With the exception of Andy Ritchie I think that recent managers at Oakwell have had plenty of rope. If you carried on unquestioningly despite results then we'd still be stuck with some of the dopes we've had over the years. I repeat that I've never been in the "Danny out" camp, but after the spineless shambles that was last year's team, I can understand one or two folk getting a bit twitchy if they think we're heading in the same direction (even if we aren't!)
The fact that we are coming from behind and are picking up quite a few points on our travels is something that shouldn`t be overlooked. The more this happens the more confident the fans will get.
I personally think people mistake lack of heart & passion with lack of experience & leadership. The difference it's made having Turnbull & Ramage at the back in the last two league games has been obvious. I think beforehand we looked a nervous team but now we've got a couple of leaders in the team we look like an organised unit. Apart from Lita & Treacy there's no one in the team I'd say haven't shown passion & even with them two I think it's more down to fitness than attitude. I stand by what I said at the start of the season which was that I think we'll be mid table around Christmas time & that we'll push on towards the play offs in the second half of the season once the new / young players have gelled. I've not seen anything to change my mind. If anything it could be an even quicker rise with how well we've done in the last two games. Turnbull, Ramage, Cranie, Hourihane & Bailey are as good as anything in this league & then you've got the likes of Bree, Jennings, Winnall & Cole who've got lots of potential.
And in my opinion anyone who wanted Wilson out was an idiot. When you have an enforced squad overhaul like we had due to having to clear out the high earners you can't be complaining 2 months into the season unless results are ridiculously bad, e.g. bottom of the league & getting battered every week
well I have been told to STFU on many occasions when I have put my opinion. Told that by a certain few... they base this instruction with an argument on the lines of "Did yer go if not STFU" I think we all know that little brigade I am hinting at. Despite reading the views of better pundits in the media, despite listening to the live commentary, despite watching the matches when available on player. Well on Sunday I WAS THERE so I willnot STFU this time. I saw a team that was as they say "an on going work" but I saw a team beat another ( who have had a tremendous start and full of confidence too) with finesse and grace and great football. We will still get our pants pulled down on occasion, but that will get less and less. This team is showing a very huge promise. This team is going to be one of the better Barnsley teams.... and I know 'cos I WAS THERE.
Re: well I have been told to STFU on many occasions But were you though? I saw Big Lil, he waved as he normally does, but there was no sign of you? Were you hiding from me?
I was sat in the seat in front of Kev and Jay and next to Arabian Ian... If you had been in Redfearns I sat next to Kev wearing a Red sweatshirt with a 'Big Bang Theory' 'BAZINGA' logo on it.
They've slapped a big VW sign on one corner or are you referring to the corner where there might be space for a fancy scoreboard?
