    Just wish we had an alternative to oil

    We will have in the not too distant future. Then we can tell the producers to stuff their oil where the monkeys stuff their nuts. Mind you this bloody government will bang a big tax on any alternative even if it costs 10p a gallon to make will be £7 at the pumps.

    Fuel duty is higher in Holland, Belgium, Denmark and France. Theres probably a few other countries in Europe higher too but I cannot remember them.

    He's partly right though

    The high price of oil is caused by an increase in demand and too small a supply. If fuel duty were cut, people would use fuel more readily and thereby create even greater demand and then push the price up even further.

    As much as I think the fuel tax we pay is far too high, cutting it would only lead to a drop in prices for a very, very small amount of time because it is not dealing with the real issue.
