Firstly, I was ill for most of last week until Easter Sunday. Then, our son & daughter-in-law brought our grandkids through from Chester yesterday and we spent the day with them. The perfect medicine for me! With so much anger and aggression around these days, it was wonderful to spend time in the company of beauty and innocence. However, we certainly don't have the energy required to be parents these days! Amara & Jensen completely tired us out and we were shattered last night!
I hope you're feeling a bit better today Kev. There's nothing like spending time with grandkids to lift your heart. Innocence and unconditional love. (that's why I love kids and dogs) but they do leave you drained the older you get. Get well mate.
I wish me and Laura had George younger. I'm 38 now and it does leave me drained now when I've had him for weekend. I've been told it gets easier when they're a bit older.
The best thing you can do is to get fitter. I remember struggling for breath running around on the beach with jr when she was 3-4. As soon as we got home, I took up running just so I could keep up! One of the best things I ever did - until my legs packed up due to various injuries. But if you want to kick a ball around a park with him for hours, you need to get yourself in shape to do that.
It gets easier but more expensive. My lad loves ice skating, cricket and Xbox, all great in their own ways but not cheap hobbies!!
“it was wonderful to spend time in the company of beauty and innocence.” Crystal, presumably. What about the grandkids?
