1.5 mile to Oakwell via Glasshouse. Not been to an away game for over a year. Not renewed yet either.
About 100 mile round trip to Oakwell, ST holder, get to every home game. Go to about half dozen away games a season, mostly northern ones but been to a few long distance.
Have you looked at the fixtures and given any thought to our away days next season? I'll be seeing Wardy this weekend so will see if there are any stand-out games that deserve the weekend away.
80 odd mile round trip every home game Which in my car is f-u-cking nightmare. Last away game was Forest on October 2009. Still scarred by how Robins approached most away games.
I'd say it's about an 80 to 90 mile round trip from the other side of Manchester. I go to most home games and the away games in Lancashire - so this season I'll be off to Burnley, Blackburn, Bolton, Blackpool, Rochdale. Also try to go see them at Bristol with my father in law who lives down there.
About 0.5 miles and I often wonder if it's worth it. At one I used to go to every way game (LDV, southern trips on a Tuesday night etc) but when Davey took over I started cutting down. I think I only did half a dozen last season. Might do a few more next year but depends how bad we are.
About a mile into town. Can see Oakwell from a bedroom window. Every home game I'm there. Out at noon, meet up with others, have several jars. Makes it more of an outing. Used to be 75%+ away games but now with second child (turned one today matey!) I'm lucky to make double figures. Always do new grounds so it's getting harder to find them. Will be going all August away games, then the big ones as likely coastal/London trips - but family and finances first for away games again.
Also a part-timer I travel 70-odd miles to Oakwell and try to make one game a month. Normally only go to my local away games (Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham etc). Peterborough is a special case because its worth the longish (80 miles) journey to be able to stand behind the goal (and the low price of course). I may be a part-timer but I have been one for 30-odd years. The only season I failed to get to a home game was the Premiership season as every game was almost sold-out with season tickets, I did get to the matches at Villa and Coventry though.
Don't get to many home games - it's not so much the distance from Birmingham but the cost of a train ticket. Makes it a pretty special day out when I do feel flush enough to fill Arriva's pockets though. Generally go to anything away in the midlands (apart from Coventry - takes ages and is a very unpleasant journey), and some a bit further afield - London's quite cheap for me to get to, as is Watford. I take others as they come depending on how rich I am that week. Definitely part time! Although I think I can count the number of victories I've seen over the last three seasons on the fingers of one hand and I'm still going.
How many miles do you travel to Oakwell and how often for home games? about 10 miles How many away games do you get to and how far do you travel? 2 seasons ago only missed about 5 away games, last season about 12, hoping to go to as many as possible, if its really far ie plymouth or brighton in passed few season normally go with a few and stay over for weekend, gutted though this season as because of holidays will be missing the 1st 3 games this season
Travel 6 miles to home Games 98% games--away games around London some times closer to home ,only a few depends when work allows (have relatives in Sussex and London) est 5 per Season.
Around almost a 400 mile round trip from Southfields SW18, SW London. Hence just 3 matches at Oakwell, but 11 Away: AWAY MATCHES LAST SEASON Reading W 2-1 Millwall D 0-0 Birmingham City D 1-1 Portsmouth L 0-2 Cardiff City L 3-5 Brighton L 0-2 Peterborough Utd W 4-3 West Ham Utd L 1-0 Watford L 2-1 Crystal Palace L 1-0 Bristol City L 2-0 HOME MATCHES LAST SEASON Burnley W 2-0 Portsmouth W 2-0 Nottingham Forest D 1-1
Been a ST holder since 1994 and always lived in Barnsley. Used to walk from Carlton last few seasons. Only took in the local away games last season (Forest, Donny, Derby) except Leeds due to the scandalous price. Oh, and I did Cardiff away, like a fcukin' idiot. Due to relocating to Bradford, and despite not renewing my ST, I expect to get to the majority of weekend home games which works out at a 50 mile round trip, and best part of £50 a pop. I'm intending to take in more away games this year, the 3 Yorkshire derbies, Forest, Derby, and due to being in Bradford I'll probably pop over to Burnley, Bolton and Blackburn too. First stop for me this season - Rochdale on the 14th, the day after my 30th birthday.
6 weeks ago i fear the thread would have been how far would you travel to avoid watching the reds, ( i'm not having a pop at thr thread originater just the general malais and lack of confidence in barnsley f.c. held by a lot of people on this board) in the words of sara millican, if you cant see a light at the end of the tunnel...................... stomp down and turn the fecker on yerself. uuuuuuuuureds
Couple of miles to home games. Season ticket holder and rarely miss games. Get to one or two away games every season. I'm filled with admiration for regular away followers. Even though Barnsley have struggled since being back in the championship we've still managed to win about 1 in every 3 of our home games, maybe a bit more, so you know 33% of the time you're going to come home happy. Away from home we're not guaranteed a defeat, but it's not far off. Our record on the road is appalling. I just couldn't take that much misery. Those guys are made of sterner stuff than I am.
Season ticket holder from 84/85 season to 06/07 season. Travel about 1 mile for home games, these day l do about 25%-50% of home games and around 25% of away games, rather spend my money on other things. Maybe once the little boy is a bit older l may get another season ticket. Peaked about 1993-1997 where l would miss 2/3 games home and away per season.
