What do people see in Schmidt?

    I'm inclined to say he's not good enough - reminds me of Rose - probably league one/two he'd do ok. I can only imagine its a bit awkward because we splashed a million quid on him, otherwise I'm sure we'd have already released him.

    I think there's a good goalscorer in there. The way he finished that goal against Stoke, was it, where he gave the keeper the eye before slotting it in. I thought that was class. The same with his other goals. Don't think he missed many sitters. Maybe a pre season under Val could benefit him. I thought he was slightly overweight which affected his pace. Hopefully Val could get him up to speed with a tough training schedule. Mowatt was slightly overweight until that promotion season. Maybe the same schedule could work for Schmidt and he could gain a yard of pace.

    We sold Moore to Wigan in August 2019.

    We desperately needed a replacement for him.

    On deadline day 2019 we signed Schmidt.

    I'd suggest Schmidt was a panic buy.
