He can't go. He slated Ritchie uphill and down dale, then starts with the "backing Davey cos he's backing the club" malarkey.

    The sand is shifting.

    "I'm really impressed with Davey".
"I'm backing Davey 'cos I'm backing the club".

It would really be a swipe in the eye to Johnny Boy if someone with every coaching badge under the sun failed.

    Coach.

    Manager.

I still think Coachman should give an answer.
I'd rather hear "He may have got a few things wrong" than SM style one-sided justification of something that is blatantly not working.

    It's always easier to criticise.

    He can't go.

    RE: I'm sorry.

    Ok then.

But first get this clear I only coach senior players.

That's over 18's and I am also having a seasons rest this year.

I am not a party to Daveys tactical reasoning, not knowing which players were 100% fit or who is working hard to earn a place in the team during training. But I agree with you about his tactics.I was far from happy with Saturdays game. I was so pissed of with it I went to the Dove to try and work out what I had seen over a pint of the very good bitter they serve in there.

One thing I do know is that this management team are working very hard to turn this team of essentially league 1 players into a team which is capable of staying in the Championship.

Davey came in at a very difficult time. He inherited a poor team and also lost McIndoe our most dangerous attacking player. He also lost the key loan signing of Wallwark and also Disco through suspension, and how we missed having him attacking the Preston rear guard on Saturday.

If anything Davey has been the victim of the clubs own PR by making an issue of his qualifications. This has given every crackpot on here an easy target by mentioning Spackman ,who incidently wasnt that well qualified when he managed us. Spackman came as an experienced manager. Its no use attacking Davey and his qualifications which I am sure 99% of the bb haven't a clue as the topics covered in them. It doesn't matter who we have has the manager the facts are that qualifications are now mandatory at all levels of the game. So anyone who comes in will be have to be qualified.

One thing I am not yet prepared to do is start slagging Davey off when he has had so few game in charge. The negativity on here is pointless and tiresome to read all the time. Mattis is writen off after 2 training sessions and one game. So was Glavin!

The saying is when the going gets tough the tough get going and that includes fans as well as players. I will be there tomorrow night because I have seen much worse teams than this in my 45 years supporting the reds and I am loyal to the Club.

I have been to every home game this season unlike some posters who did their Christmas shopping on a match day.

Can you tell me which bit I got wrong about Ritchie?

What came out of the club proved that what I was criticising Ritchie for was correct.

Good post. And all valid points.

The only thing I'd still say is that I think your support of Davey is already wavering in the face of some of the tactical decisions he's made in recent games.

You're entitled to your opinion mate,

but I'd rather watch a team play the Ritchie way, it made me excited and left 5 to 6 thousand fans behind clapping the players off the pitch even when we'd lost. The results wern't always right but some of the performances were sublime, in the early part of the season I couldn't wait for the next match, now I dread it. It went wrong when the contract was mentioned. Yes I think Ritchie was naive if he expected the squad we brought up to be good enough, but he also said he would only replace them with better players and I feel in the fullness of time he will be proved right.

This is only my view Johnny, but I feel a loss as if all the gloss has been taken off the club, it's the first time I've really enjoyed going to the club since the Wilson days of the promotion season and it's been taken away from me.

Under Ritchie we would have given it a right go although we may have gone down. Playing the way we do now I think we will probably go down, but to be honest at this moment in time I don't care. If in a months time we are playing entertaining football I'll come back on and post a full apology as I really hope I'm wrong.
