    My God. How demoralising!

And we're talking like this after a 4-0 win!

Is it just the fact that there's football everywhere you look, do you think? Can't seem to escape from it! I don't have Sky, but I 'get' so much football anyway - on the radio, with work colleagues, on the front page of the Guardian, even (after the England defeat to Northern Ireland, for example.) With regard to 'football talk' with friends or colleagues, I think I have this fear that if I don't mention BFC or whatever, there's nothing else to talk about. Football or silence?

I'm sad that other people feel the same way as I do. Doesn't bode well for the future. :(

Where as in the past I would talk about football with a passion to anyone else who listened, nowadays I find that often I quickly skirt around the subject and force the subject onto something else.

It is as if I find talking with a passion about 11 blokes who are all younger than me these days playing football is a little over the top - I find other people's passion difficult to handle as if it is a little embarrasing.

That may be because it is difficult to get passionate about my team these days as they are seem content with the middle ground, or it may be that I've just grown up and find that football is not the most important thing in my life any more.

When I got home yesterday my missus asked me if we'd won and I said "yeh - 4-0". That was the end of the matter. My step-daughter's other half then tried talking exitedly about his team (Washday) winning and turining the corner, and how well Barnsley are doing, and I changed the subject. I just didn't feel it.

    Sad ain't it.
