You are right... race is not purely defined by skin colour.

You missed the main point though which was about Northern Ireland and the abuse you received being seen in the context of the British army being viewed as an occupying force by the Nationalist/republican community.

Is that a reference to their genitalia?

If it is then unless you know something, that is a racist generalisation hahaha. Highly offensive

    How can you say that?

You don't know, would they have been in an alledged racial assault? You are using pure supposition to say it would be treated differently, it's something that really annoys me when people come out with the "oh if somebody else had done that they'd have been treated differently" line, it's trying to come up with an argument with no actual fact to back them up but to say they'd be wronged anyway.

    Good point

And with how much people feel that white, british people are being victimised by the system when it comes to race, I think people would have pounced on it straight away if it was black on white. 'look at them, at it again, send em back' etc.

RE: How can you say that?

I disagree Eastander. From my personal observation, white racism is always more sensationalised than racism by other races. This sensationalism is usually by members of the white race. In no way am I attempting to be an apologist for racists or attempting to make out the white race to be unduly victimised. But I believe my observations are accurate.

The reasons for this are probably very complex, but factors which cause such differetiation in reaction probably include the fact that the white race is in the majority in this country, other races are more prone to being down trodden as they are the minority and historically members of the white race have been the ones who have been able to oppress on the basis of race.
