What Lil says. And for me the players I have watched that I would class as legends are: Ronnie Glavin Bobby Hassell Neil Redfearn Luke Steele Danny Wilson There are a lot that are very close but just not quite there (Higgy and Super John Hendrie to name a couple).
David Flitcroft. Last season will never be forgotten. I'm serious, but my tin hat's just going over my head.
Norman rimmington , done everything at the club , seen the bad times and the good times . And still at the club
I agree with a lot of the posters about why someone connected to the club would be classed legends Obviously the Rev and ex players mentioned above but also players from your childhood can become legends. I remember Eric Winstanley who seemed like a god to me in my early teens it seemed to me that every time George Hamstead delivered a corner or free kick Eric was there nodding it in, sweet memories almost mythical
I forgot about big Mick but yes he would be on the list. Gerry would be in the next category down, close but not quite there. O'Callaghan goes without saying doesn't he? He is such a legend that his name doesn't even need to be spoken.
Personally, only two players make it into my 'legend' status. Neil Redfearn and Bobby Hassell. I'm sure there are many other contenders, but they would all be before my time.
Been a living leg end is in the eye of the beholder! We've all got differing levels of what constitutes earning that tag! Mine falls into the following..... multiple appearances and loyalty (Murphy Hassell Winnie Rimmo etc) performances and effort (Redders Glav Macca etc) success and achievements (1912 team, Rev Preedy, Prem promo lads. FA cup run lads) Short stayers who shone (Higgie, Hendrie etc) As I think more about this it's probably more complicated to define a 'legend'. Anyway they're a few of mine.
