I'm sure come opening day i'll be more enthused than I am now.

We cocked up (again) by not offering players contracts much earlier. And obviously when we chose not to offer Davies an extension last year, however he performed, he was always going to go. Thankfully, he had his best season and helped us get promoted.

We'll see how it all pans out, but this looks like groundhog day to me and I feel we're asking too much of our coaching staff to set up such a new team to survive at a higher level. I hope we do obviously, but we're making it so crucial that every signing is a success, and that is ever so unlikely.

Browns last minute winner at Walsall was probably my best moment ever bar being promoted to the Premiership ( but I was sort of expecting that one)

Blimey! Am I the only one of the 'mature' fans who's excited by our new signings and looking forward to the new season?:D
I, too, wished Davies, Lindsay & Pinnock wanted to stay and sign a new contract with us. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be and we appear to be moving swiftly to bringing in replacements. The longer contracts being offered will, hopefully, lead to a lengthier period of stability than we've witnessed these past three years with regards to player turnover.

Stops me drinking and smoking for an hour and a half every week.

And the couple of minutes following Winnall's second against Walsall in the play-offs was just incredible. Otherworldly. I don't know anywhere else you can get that feeling.

I'm sure you're not the only one, but it's true to say that I'm slowly losing interest as I can't allow myself to get "attached" to any of our players any more. Maybe things will improve, don't know, but we'll see over the next couple of seasons.

Yeah, but you're more grown up than I am, old mate. Cleverer, too. Not that it takes much doing!:D

Older, yes, more grown up? Never! You wouldn't have said that if you'd seen me in Dodworth Club on Saturday night at an Abba tribute. The blond one actually asked me on stage as a backing dancer....1 more pint and I'd have probably accepted......

I remain optimistic. all good points made on this thread. I too take little interest in the premier league. Love to follow Barnsley & enjoy the banter on here & with my mates at games. I think the next two seasons will give us a better idea of home the new ownership works. Keeping DS & having a coach & player succession strategy will be the key. Teams like Preston & Brentford are good examples of teams we could be like in a year or two. They have no bigger support base than us & are top half teams, there, or thereabouts.

The current owners are in no better position (or no more inclined) to keep our players than the previous regime. In fact they follow the blueprint more rigorously and won't put pitch before profit for any player. The January 2017 asset strip wouldn't have happened with this lot in charge. It would have taken place in August 2016 and on a much bigger scale.

It's an opportunity for a catering firm to sell a load of s**t at half time ...garbage that they couldn't sell at any other time.
