Maybe if that Policeman had educated his son...

...and even maybe helped him when he became addicted he wouldn't have needed to become a mass murderer?

Why stop with addicts? Drinking and smoking has much more of a drain on societies resources, why not bomb each pub and offy while standing outside a newsagent beating the **** out of anyone who buys 20 Lambert?

You believe what you read in the Daily Mail too much mate.

Of all addictive substances alcohol users are by far the biggest drain on public finances. They commit more crime (check the research or linger in he town centre on a Saturday night) and are a bigger drain on the NHS than any heroin user. Prescribing heroin is a throwback to the 1970's before the days of Community Drug Teams and were abandoned as being inoperable as users were expected to attend up to six times per day. The latest edict from the National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse advocates use of the 'Recovery Model' which limits by the time each user can spend in treatment opposed to the current treatment model which advocates stability by maintinig users in treatment for as long as possible. Most of the funding for drug treatment is currently diverted through to offenders via the Drugs Intervention Programme which gives the Police and the courts the powers to divert users into treatment. Think about it! At the next General Election which would a politician sooner say? We are tackling drug related crime through diverting offenders into treatment (which does work and is a cheaper opition than punishmet. Again read the reasearch if you're not convinced) or alternatively, 'were giving away free heroin' because a small study says it may work?
