Except that Ipswich were probably as dominant in the first half as we were in the second. You might add that at one point, we were actually matching Watford as well until they stepped on the gas. Fact is Jay, you know as well as I do what the points for column will show in respect of these games. Last season we were able to close games out when we were ahead against the likes of Leeds, Millwall, Watford, Wolves and Hull. This season we can't put a 90 minute shift in. That's despite "the most intensive pre-season ever". I read this morning that Flicker is considering sending Nyatanga out on loan now. If you reckon that he's probably on 2 grand a week minimum, that's getting on for another 40 grand down the pan. Jennings looks like an alehouse league player and Cofie hasn't been sighted. "Diggers" is good enough for England but apparently not for our midfield. RNL is a smashing and versatile footballer but we can't use him.

I'd be delighted to be proved wrong, but I can't see where any change is coming from. Leeds, Brighton, Burnley and Millwall away doesn't fill me with confidence either.

No they weren't. They didn't get a kick of the ball for the first 25 minutes. We didn't do anything with it like, but Ipswich hardly even touched it. They had a 15 minute spell when they were on top and that was it. I'm not saying we played well in that first half, we didn't, but the opposition didn't tear us apart. It was nothing like we did to them in the second half. If people consider a point away from home to a top half side when we destroyed the opposition for all the second period as a failure and something to criticise then there never will be any pleasing them.

You've got some, what I believe to be, relevant points on individual players, but we've never had a manager who has selected the side that I would pick. I came to the conclusion many years ago that there never will be. After considering all the facts, I realised that every manager we've ever had knows more about football than I do, so even if I do disagree with their selections I try not to bairn about it. Nowt wrong with discussing it, nowt wrong with putting forward an opinion, but to want a manager sacked or to predict relegation because they're not doing what I think they should do is just ridiculous because I know with absolute certainty that if I was given the job we'd be relegated by Christmas. If I know this with every cell in my body, how can I be so hostile to the manager if he doesn't do what I think he should do? That would be madness.

Wanting a manager sacked because we're not doing well is a different kettle of fish. We can all do that. But why would we sack a manager when the team have only lost one game since September? The results haven't been spectacular, but we've stopped getting hammered, we've turned the defeats in to draws and we're playing better than the opposition in the majority of games. The improvement, to me, is as obvious as the nose on my face. I think we should be supporting that improvement, not predicting relegation.

We now need to step up another level, turning those draws in to victories. I believe with the miracles Flicker performed last season and the way he has stopped us getting hammered every week this season, he should be given the chance to do that. I also think we should support him while he attempts to do it, not criticise his every move and resign ourselves to the drop. Flicker believes we'll get out of this mess, what's the point if we don't?

I'm afraid I've lost all confidence in the Manager. 1 point away from home in December speaks volumes!

correct me if im wrong, but isn't there 46 games in a season? And we've played about 16. What was the PPG at this point last season, I bet it wasn't much better than it is now. How are we ever going to be comfortable in this division if we can't compete financially. Its no coincidence that the bottom 5 or so clubs have the smallest budgets. Flicker got us out of this mess this season, proof enough for me he can do it again.

Agree, under Flickers tenure we've also ground out some very good results against the better teams in the division. In this league anyone can beat anyone.

That will be one point in our last away match then - which does support the argument that we are improving does it not ?

The relentless determination of some posters to be certain we will be relegated year after year is a bit depressing to be honest. We got off to a dreadfull start to the season - thats not in debate but over the last couple of months there has been a real improvement we have stopped losing at home even to top sides like Reading and finally stopped losing away to a fairly decent side as well. But some people are determined to not accept we have improved no matter how clear the evidence.

Whether the improvement will continue or if we will slip back to the form shown at the start of the season no one knows but as Jay says above - the posters who relentlessly look on the negative side keep being wrong time after time but still like a broken record keep on.

Why didnt you instead type I am afraid I've lost all confidence in the manager we have lost one of our last 6 matches which speaks volumes

I reckon we will stay up as well. Maybe it's blind optimism as we always find a way to avoid the drop. But if we do stay up season ticket sales next season will go back down after a slight rise this year.

I'm not daft, so it's quite possible we could be relegated this season. And I'm not convinced Flitcroft can save us this time around. But I'm not going to even discuss 'League One' ticket pricing in bloody November.

You think we're doomed? You're entitled to that opinion. As I say, I'm not exactly optimistic about our chances either. But accepting relegation (which your posts suggests you're doing) with two thirds of the season to go seems a tad OTT, and a tad soft.

Ok i've lost all confidence in the manager and we have lost one of our last 6 matches which speaks volumes, even though we have not lost we are still languishing at the bottom of the League with 1 point accumulated on our travels. I do accept your point we have improved as we have only drawn against our relegation rivals rather than beating them which would have gone some way to us climbing the table but it aint good enough as the fact remains we are and potentially could be bottom after tonights fixture.
Forgive me for continually looking on the negative side but with the displays witnessed this season and our current position I find it difficult to feel any other emotion. I don't accept we will be relegated this season, and didn't for one minute think we would be at the start of this season, but one thing I am certain of now is without a change of Manager (It saddens me to say this after last season) we will fall through the trap door to League 1.
I hope I am proved wrong.
