Course not. It just passes away the time. But what does? We could attempt to deconstruct the Syrian conflict or discuss what ignited the big bang, but I doubt any of us are qualified to do that, so we just shoot the **** about badges and that.

Dont think many will just choose to be an Owl or Blade, more than likely just following the team who their Dad , Mum or Grandparent supported,. We're the next town down the motorway from them so makes sense they'll be a fair few living here.

I noticed a flag up at the Sheffield United game which read 'Doncaster Tykes'. It was on the West Stand next to the Ponty. Suppose it's similar.

Not you personally. Anyone who uses this forum. People tend to be easily provoked.

I suppose it could be different, but I view it more as people being proud of both the football club they support, and proud of the town that they live, connecting with fans that also think that way. That's a positive thing in my eyes.

Don't want to argue with that mate. If that's the way it is and you're right, I'm fine with it. I suspect it's not, but I'd much prefer the world to be how you've described it, so I'll take that.

Supporting your local team involves much more than football.

Its about being proud of where you come from and hoping your football club does well so this is reflected in the welfare of your town

When the Blunts went into the Premiership last time it was estimated that it was a benefit to that city of £45 MILLION
And that was years ago so what would that benefit be like these days?

So why should people from Barnsley want to support another place - we desperately need that type of money invested in Barnsley.
For example - a Wendy fan with children is actually putting money into a place that may benefit (jobs etc.) other peoples children - but not his own.

Therefore we need all football supporters in Barnsley to support Barnsley Football Club

But what's happening is this - we have two big cities either side of us. If these clubs do well, like they have done in the past, then it only takes a father to take his son or daughter to one of their matches and that child can be lost to Barnsley forever.
First match attended is usually the most important

Consequently we, in Barnsley, have a high percentage of SCAB fans in the district - those football fans that abandon the town that they were born or brought up in.
When I'm talking about a high percentage - I'm taking about thousands here. Even with the Sheffield and Leeds clubs doing badly I would guess at something in the region of 5000 extra on the gates at Barnsley. If Wendy does well next season you could expect 3 to 5 thousand from Barnsley going to Hillsboro every home match.
What sort of difference would that make to the fortunes of Barnsley Football club?

So it basically boils down to economics - while Barnsley is losing all these football supporters to other nearby cities, Barnsley will never be able to have a big enough attendance to generate enough money to be able to compete with these nearby cities - unless of course we have a major benefactor who primes the pump and stops the flow away from Barnsley.

More fans - more money - better football club - better town ............repeated

Many years ago, the gay community took to wearing specific clothing to signal their predilictions to each other in the times when homosexuality was frowned upon by society in general.

This badge is for child molesters to show other child molesters that you're a child molester.

My utter contempt is towards the Prem Plastics, who spend a small fortune on "their team" without leaving their armchairs.
