    Have you actually done the job? I have, plenty of arrests never once used any dangerous or illegal techniques and never used my baton.
    Got results without having to resort to needless violence.

    I'm certainly no wishy washy hug a hoodie type and I am a massive supporter of the police but how do you justify anyone being pinned down in that manner for seven minutes when they are already handcuffed?

    You know it and I know it, what happened in 91 shouldn't have happened to you. I can assure you in the 29 years since its got better. You still get the odd idiot, or in some cases criminal acts. Out the number of incidents attended its that one where an officer(s) let's the entire profession down and it ends up in the news, not the millions of call outs some off which are life saving which get any attention.

    I was making an observation/response to the person who posted about incidents in this country, and how it might differ in the USA..

    Which was why I also referred to "turning up" at an incident rather than what happens thereafter.

    For you to imply in any way from what I posted that I am in any way a racist or apologist for unnecessary violence just seems to evidence your own ignorance and prejudices rather than mine.

    You ought to apologise.

    My point is that sadly in the USA every incident could well involve a gun, and thus automatically be more serious,which is far less likely to be the case over here.

    Get rid of the guns, and the whole drama of every incident would be liable to change.

    TBF , I don’t actually have any issues with what happened to me, there were circumstances leading to it and I view it as I gave as good as I got. I have some very good friends who are in the force and like a lot of similar careers it is sometimes a thankless task and like you say only the negative generally gets talked about.

    Of course I'm not defending him. Or justifying anything beyond what would be reasonable to make an arrest.

    Even in the USA and with him being a cop, he's not going to get away with that. Though no doubt he'll be sentenced more lightly than a copper would be over here.
