I don't hold all evil things as a result of religion. People would do bad things if religion didn't exist. Religion though is often used to justify evil acts.
Religion is actually very similar to the extreme examples of Facism and Communism you reference.
Finally just remember the regimes of Hitler and Stalin did not kill in the name of Atheism. How many have been killed in the name of religion?

It was an off the cuff remark but true in parts.

Seven hail Mary's and all is forgiven. Bullsh1t.
Confessions by both C of E and catholic wrongdoers no matter the crime made confidential.

Lots of my family are practicing Christian's. (Wesleyans/methodists another joke group I assume) As was I at one time. And are morally good people on the whole. (Not Catholics btw. SOME of which are the most racist. misogynistic. Homophobic People you'd wish to meet. And I've met plenty and friends of some) To call em a bit of a joke is disingenuous. Its chuffin hundreds of years since what you quote happened. Religion is always evolving. I assume you think Catholicism is the only one true religion(Sorry if not the case)
Take everyone as you find em. Religious or not.

One was formed 400 years ago when someone wanted more wives thats not evolution. Im not religious in the slightest hence my comment on banning the whole thing.
You do realise Catholicism is the most practiced form of christianity in the world with over 1.3 billion practicing the faith? And there is good and bad in every faith and race. Maybe you should keep a open.mind reading your 1st reply and that one.

Apologies. I skipped past a previous quote. I picked up on the rest a bit of a joke. And responded to that post. In that case they are all a joke in my view. But I understand a lot of people seek comfort so to speak in their beliefs. So long as that doesn't bring harm to others. They can crack on.

The first crusade was led by French, Norman and German nobility in the main. Apart from Richard I English involvement in all the Crusades was pretty low key.

Yeah i get that people find comfort in religion but even in your last post you say some Catholics are the most racist and homophobic you have ever met... if i said muslims, asians or whatever were the most racist I've ever met i imagine id be jumped on. Good and bad in every religion.

Absolutely. But I hate it when religion is looked on as above morality.
All religions are guilty of that. And most are only changing on that front, in this century.
I suspect in this country. Especially christianity. Practicing will become extinct before the next century. Only 5% attend church once a week. In the uk.
I attended Church until the age of 15. And became disillusioned. Lots give their life to it. If that's what they want to do. I haven't an issue. Except when they spout Christian or any other religions values and forget em.

Lol. He was biggest hypocrite going the "Lionheart". Crusading in the name of Christianity when in fact it was blood lust and power.

Like a few posters have already eluded to. Nobody practices what they preach.

Maybe Gavin Peacock but he's stuck in 50's British Pathe with Chumley Warner.

Yeah it was a vanity project for Richard 1. That's what brought about his premature death. On his return from the Crusades he couldn't resist sacking one last castle in France.

IIRC for a big chunk of that period England was just a region of France anyway with the same King. Most of the popular images of crusaders though are the Knight's Templar - or the French away squad 1190-1312.
